Death Game: Isolated

Chapter 7

"They're really helpless..." Angel muttered while watching the scene between Vincent and Fiona.

"I was convinced that Jansen was not a hunter in the first place but I still voted him." Jiel said.

"Yeah, even if we didn't vote him, what difference would it make? There are more than 40 of us."

"It's also a good thing that you tried to defend him. The players were convinced that he killed Marco and telling them he's not a hunter is not easy."

Ronald and Marco, the two of them have a not so good relationship with Jansen. Vincent and Jinnah just made him sink deeper. They used the relationship between the three people to convince everyone to vote Jansen, turns out he is just a player and not a hunter.

The players thought that the hunters are the biggest threat but they were wrong, the biggest threats they are facing are their fellow players.

"Should we really eliminate other players to survive?" Sofia asked.

"No, we should wait first until our numbers decreased so that it is safer to eliminate others and take their cards but, if the enemy approached us..."

"Then we should fight. Let's prevent being alone during the night." Jiel continued Ace's words.

"But it's not really necessary to kill them, we only need to take their cards and it's already done."

"If their cards were stolen by others, even if they were alive, the hunters will prioritize the one who lost his card to be eliminated."

Just like yesterday, Rona was the one who prepared their food but today, she's not alone. Fiona and Cleo are also helping to make the work faster and easier. It's not easy for someone to prepare food for 40 people.

She can't cook herself a food for 40 people alone so she needed help and luckily, it was not hard to find some help.

While they were cooking, Cleo can't help but to glance oftentimes to Rona.

He then slowly approached her while keeping his gaze around.

"Is there a matter?"

"None."

"Then why are you approaching me like that?"

"I just want to ask if you noticed something in this place." Cleo asked and pushed the bridge of his glasses upwards.

"What do you mean?" She asked.

"I just wanted to know if there are cameras hidden or the masked men have something they use to monitor us."

Rona rubbed her chin upon realization. Is it just a coincidence that the masked men suddenly popped out without them noticing where they came? Surely, they are making sure that the players are having their attentions focused on other things before making their appearance.

"I also thought about that, maybe they had some secret places here." Fiona spoke while getting the plates from the cupboard.

Later on, after they finished their meal, everyone decided to do what they wanted during the day. Ace told his friends that he would just take a stroll around the place and wanted to go alone. The countdown only has 12 hours remaining, it means the time for now is 12 at noon.

He insisted on going alone and now, he just finished walking around the tower where they are currently staying. He didn't find anything that piqued his interest that's why he thought he should go near the walls.

'If we have some tools to cut the barb wires, we can surely escape this place.' He thought, touching the cold wall with his hand.

This whole town, if one were to walk from the entrance in straight line to the other end , it would take him 4 hours at most. Because of the buildings here which are mostly of houses, it seemed like the other end of the place is too far.

Ace continued his stroll in an hour until he arrived in an alleyway and after passing through this, he reached the metal fence surrounding the ferris wheel. The fence is only tall until his chest that's why he can jump or climb over it.

He examined the operating machine of the ferris wheel and noticed that some wires were cut and the oil was already depleted.

He tried pulling the lever down but nothing happened, he also pressed the different buttons there but nothing happened. If someone was to see a button, as a human, it is only usual for them to press it without knowing what would happen because of their curiosity.

After more than two hours, Ace reached the other end of the wall and looked back to where the gate was located. As expected, his vision was blocked by the buildings which made him unable to see the other end. Not that he is able to see it even if the area is clear. A 4-hour walking distance, the buildings on the other side of the town will just be as big as dots.

After a few more hours, Ace did not yet return to his friends.

"He said he just wanted to take a stroll, right?" Jiel asked, his fingers combing the hair of his girlfriend.

"Yeah..." Angel answered.

Sofia looked at the countdown.

05:30:00

What the hell did the do? He is already gone for more than 5 hours.

After fidgeting while swinging the swing back and forth, Sofia saw a figure approaching them under the light of the streetlights.

"He's here." She muttered and waited until Ace reached the playground where they are having their leisure.

He had this blank expression on his face but when he noticed the gazes around him, he cleared his troat and spoke.

"Yeah, what should we do now?" He asked.

Before someone could answer him, his eyes suddenly widened.

"What's the matter...?" Sofia went to his side and poked his chest. He didn't answer but instead asked a question.

"Just earlier, how many players were still there?" He asked.

"44." Angel answered without even looking at the monitor.

*Sigh

"Ha... Hahaha!" Ace sighed and laughed while shaking his head.

Sofia felt a shiver all over her body after hearing Ace laugh. What's with him? Did he get possesed by a crazy spirit?

"40..." He said and looked at Sofia first before looking to his friends.

They were also wondering as to why did he say 40 but then, it was at this moment that a girl came rushing. It was Jinnah.

"Guys... H-have you seen Vincent?" It was not only Jinnah, one after another, players started asking each other if they have seen the names they are speaking of.

"s**t! 40... There's only 40!?" Von yelled.

It seems like it was only at this moment that the other players noticed the player count had decreased by 4.

"What the hell is this?" Jiel asked himself.

It was just 44 earlier and now it came down to 40.

'So that was what he meant...' Sofia thought to herself after seeing the number on the monitor on top of the tallest building.

At this moment, they heard a familiar voice coming from the speakers.

"Ahem! I just wanna remind you, there's a psychopathic and lunatic hunter among the hunters so you better be careful…"

After the words, which was basically spoken by the Game Master, the monitor then showed a different screen.

[Congratulations to the anonymous player who eliminated a hunter!]

[The hunter, Jack of Diamonds, was eliminated!]

[The hunter, Queen of Clubs, was eliminated!]

Is this real? Everyone felt something cold spread all throughout their bodies.

2 hunters were killed together with 2 other players, it is impossible that only one killed the four of them without even the players around noticing it. Judging by the words of the Game Master, those four were all eliminated first before the player count decreased by 4 in one go. Moreover, after the Game Master's words, it was only that moment that the notification of someone killing a hunter was displayed.

The fear of the players surged up. They didn't even know who did it, they only knew that 4 of them died when the player count decreased. Isn't it like they are running in a dark place without any knowledge on what are the things around them?

There were no gunshots, so it means they were killed by other means. It was either they were killed by someone they didn't expect to kill them and didn't manage to fight back or they were killed without them knowing.

At this moment, someone came running again. Is it a trend now?

He's breathing wildly like a bull when he stopped in front of the others, this someone was Jin.

"Four corpses, there are four corpses there..." He pointed his hand to the direction where he came from which was the area in front of the tower.

Everyone rushed there to see it. They are all curious.

"Do you want to go?" Jiel asked them, they only nodded and followed suit but...

"How about you?" He asked his girlfriend who's still within his embrace. A public display of affection, really amusing.

"It's okay..." And thus they also followed behind their friends.

When the first person arrived at the scene, he almost puked out everything he ate this past days when he saw the gross scene in front of him

Blood splattered in front of the building. Fortunately, the door was closed because if it's not, the blood might have stained the inside of the building.

On the ground are four corpses. If anyone were to describe the condition of their bodies, he would say they were all bloodied and have a body part separated from their bodies.

"VINCENT!!!" Jinnah cried, her hands covering her mouth.

Starting from the left was a man without his two hands and his neck was slashed, next was a girl with her head separated from her body, the body beside her is also a girl and has a knife impaled in the empty socket of her eyes, and lastly, a man missing all his hand fingers.

Upon reaching in the scene, Ace immediately pushed the two girls who are following him at the back. Unfortunately, Darell was walking ahead of Jiel.

"AH!" She screamed in fright and stumbled backwards, she was then catched by Jiel then put his arm around her waist.

"W-who did this...?"

"The impact of killing them in a proper way is better, so why would they do this kind of abominable act?"

"A complete lunatic..."

On the white wall, there's also a sentence written using the blood of the victims, it says...

-Wanna play? Then let's play, no one will leave this place alive. Hunter? Player? Fools, you are just pastimes for me. We are just entertainment for the people watching us so we should at least give them a good show.-

If they were to judge the meaning of his words, they will come up with the same thought that only one person killed this four.

*Sob

"V-vince..." Jinnah was crying her heart out after seeing the condition of Vincent's body. All of his hand fingers were gone. Someone then pulled Jinnah away and tried to console her.

After a few moment, her eyes caught Rona who is also looking at the corpses.

"You b***h!! It was probably you!" She pointed her trembling fingers to Rona who was also in a dazed state.

The man pulling Jinnah away, who was Jason, didn't expect that Jinnah would suddenly explode and accidentally let go of her.

Jinnah rushed forwards and being powered by her anger, she picked a stone on the ground. And with her full strength, added with her emotion, if someone were to be hit by this, their skull would surely break to the point it is impossible to heal.

Fiona seem to feel like her heart stopped beating when the stone with a size of fist left Jinnah's hand.

'Oh my!'

She seems like an animal who solely relies on her instinct, she didn't even think of her actions and let her body get driven by her emotions. When she saw Vincent's dead body, she didn't even have the rationality to think and immediately attacked Rona.

None of them blamed her. Earlier in the morning after the trial of Jansen, Rona just said something that one of them, Vincent and Jinnah, will die tonight. It seems it came true without even Rona realizing it.

It was impossible for Jayson to stop Jinnah because he was also shocked. He was just holding the arm of Jinnah earlier but now, shes already throwing a stone to someone.

"Rona!!" When she heard her name, she recovered from her daze but alas, it was too late. If the stone were to hit her, Fiona wished it will not hit Rona's head or neck.

Then suddenly, before the stone hit Rona, a tall figure went past Fiona's face and pushed Rona aside.

Someone also mercilessly kicked Jin who was previously standing behind Rona.

*Dug!

The sound of the rock upon hitting the wall. There was a small c***k on the white all of the tower once the fist sized stone hit it.

Jin had his eyes widen when he realized that the projectile almost hit him. His attention was focused on the dead bodies of his fellows when someone suddenly kicked him on his back.

Jin really felt mad once he identified who did it, but he restrained himself and didn't say or do anything.

"Hold her! Take her away from here!" Angel yelled to Jayson who immediately pulled Jinnah away.

They can't let someone crazy stay here. Most of them don't know the relationship between Jinnah and Vincent but judging from her reaction after seeing what happened to Vincent, they were really close.

"Now take their bodies away from here. You only have 5 hours before the game begins." The voice of the Game Master was heard from the speakers.

"T-take their bodies away from here? Then who will do it?" The man with Tomy asked. His eyes swept the fellow players around him, then his eyes caught the beautiful girl standing behind Von.

"What? Are you making me do it? Men should be gentlemen, why would you pass the job to me?" The girl suddenly asked.

Tomy just sighed after hearing her words. Maybe he would just take his classmate with him, the one standing beside him, to carry the bodies. He can just cover his nose and eyes to not see the unpleasant scene.
