CHAPTER SEVEN — SHE IS GONE
The three destined witches hurried to Pearl's house.
They had discovered a spell that might help her.
When they arrived, Pearl was fast asleep in her bedroom.
Maya opened the spell book.
“This should work.”
She stood beside Pearl's bed.
“Once before, reverse back.”
Nothing happened.
Maya frowned.
She tried again.
“Once before, reverse back!”
Still nothing.
Serene rolled her eyes.
“Give me the book. Let me say it.”
Maya handed it to her.
Serene cleared her throat.
“Once before, reverse back.”
Nothing happened.
She stared at the book.
“Seriously?”
Maya thought for a moment.
“The only way is if we all say it together.”
Aria immediately folded her arms across her chest.
“That is definitely not happening.”
Serene raised an eyebrow.
“Why?”
“Because I'm not a witch.”
Serene pointed toward Pearl.
“That means you want your friend dead?”
Aria's eyes widened.
“No!”
“Then stop being a chicken.”
Aria glared at her.
“Fine.”
The three girls stood around Pearl's bed.
They joined hands.
“Once before, reverse back.”
The moment they said the words together, the room filled with a strange glow.
Pearl's body began changing.
The transformation slowly reversed.
Maya's eyes widened.
“It worked!”
Aria stared at Pearl.
“She changed back.”
Serene smiled.
“Of course it worked.”
Aria quickly pulled the bed sheets over Pearl.
“Let's go before she wakes up.”
The three girls quietly left.

THE NEXT DAY
Pearl walked into school with confidence.
She was back to her old appearance.
Aria spotted her immediately.
“Wow, Pearl! You're back!”
She ran toward her and hugged her.
“Yes,” Pearl laughed. “I woke up like this.”
Aria smiled.
Maya and Serene exchanged a knowing look.
They all smiled.
At least Pearl was safe.
As they walked through the hallway, Julie passed them.
She glanced at Aria.
She had been watching Aria for a while.
She wanted to thank her.
But she couldn't find the courage.
So she simply walked away.

AFTER SCHOOL
When they returned home, Aria noticed that Maya was wearing a beautiful blue summer dress.
She raised an eyebrow.
“What is the occasion?”
Serene smiled.
“Maya's crush is here.”
Maya's face immediately turned red.
“He's here?!”
She ran toward the door.
Aria laughed.
“Maya!”
Before she could reach the door, a tiny light floated through the opening.
The light grew brighter.
Then—
POOF!
It transformed into a tiny magical creature.
Aria stared.
“What is that?”
“Hi, Caleb,” Maya said shyly.
Caleb smiled.
“Hi, Maya.”
“Why is he here?” Aria asked.
Maya looked at her.
“He's a pickie.”
“A what?”
“Pickies help witches,” Maya explained. “They're basically magical delivery people.”
Aria's eyes widened.
“Every witch has a pickie?”
Serene nodded.
“Every witch.”
She smiled mysteriously.
“They live in Ravenwood, our home.”
Caleb lifted a small box.
“Serene, you asked me to bring this.”
“Yes!”
He tossed the box toward her.
Serene caught it.
She opened it excitedly.
Inside were chocolate cookies.
Aria stared at them.
“Seriously? Cookies?”
Serene looked offended.
“Not just any cookies.”
She held one up.
“They're from Ravenwood.”
Aria laughed.
Caleb looked at her curiously.
“She must be the new witch.”
“Yes,” Serene replied.
She looked at Aria.
“New and dumb.”
Aria rolled her eyes.
“I heard that.”
Maya suddenly looked at Caleb.
“Our sink has an issue. Can you check it?”
Caleb smiled.
“Sure.”
He dropped the bags and followed her.
Aria watched them leave.
“They like each other.”
Serene nodded.
“Yes.”
She lowered her voice.
“But neither of them can say it. They're too shy.”
Aria laughed.
Serene picked up another cookie.
“I actually gain a lot from their secret crush.”
“How?”
“Maya cleans my room whenever she wants me to help her get Caleb here.”
Serene took a bite.
“And Caleb brings me cookies whenever I allow him to visit.”
Aria laughed.
“So you're using their crushes for cookies?”
“Exactly.”
Aria shook her head.
Then her expression became serious.
“Do you think our moms have something to do with the Red Diamonds?”
Serene's smile disappeared.
“I don't really know.”
She looked toward the spell book.
“Only the book can tell us.”
She stood up.
But before they could continue the conversation, Maya and Caleb came back.
Serene was too busy teasing them to notice that Aria had quietly disappeared.
A few minutes later, Maya looked around.
“Have you seen Aria?”
Caleb shook his head.
“Nope.”
Serene frowned.
“Maybe she's upstairs.”
They searched the rooms.
Nothing.
They checked the kitchen.
Nothing.
They checked the garden.
Nothing.
“Where is she?” Caleb asked.
Nobody answered.
They all shrugged.
Then Serene suddenly froze.
“The spell book.”
Maya looked at her.
“Why?”
“Where is the witch spells book?”
Maya's eyes widened.
She immediately ran downstairs.
The place where the book had been kept was empty.
“The book…”
She looked around frantically.
“It's gone.”
Caleb suddenly spoke.
His voice was quiet.
“She's also missing.”
Maya and Serene stared at him.
Silence filled the room.
Aria was gone.
And so was the witch spells book.
