CHAPTER THREE — ORIGIN

I ran straight to my home and packed necessary stuffs.

I needed to leave as soon as possible.

I didn't know who those girls were.

I didn't know why they were calling themselves witches.

And most importantly, I didn't know what they wanted from me.

I grabbed some clothes and threw them into my bag.

I looked around my room.

Everything suddenly felt different.

This was the place I had grown up in.

My home.

My safe place.

But now, I didn't feel safe anymore.

I picked up my bag and rushed downstairs.

I opened the door.

"You can run pretty fast."

Serene stood on the doorstep with Maya.

My heart almost jumped out of my chest.

"Stay away from me," I said, moving back.

"Aria, we are not going to harm you. You need to calm down," Maya told me in a calm voice.

"How do you know my name?"

My eyes met the back door.

I needed to distract them and then run away.

"Your mom didn't really tell you anything about us," Serene said.

Both of them looked at each other in confusion.

That was my chance.

I ran out.

I didn't even look back.

I didn't have a car.

But there was a train station.

Another question?

Where would I go?

My whole life had been in Brooklyn.

I didn't care.

I ran.

At least it was better to be away from girls claiming themselves as witches.

Maybe if I got far enough, everything would go back to normal.

Maybe I could forget everything that happened.

Maybe my mom would come back.

I just needed to get away.

I didn't notice the moving car coming straight in front of me.

The person who was driving the car drove in different directions, trying to avoid me.

The car moved closer to the edge of the road.

Then I saw the cliff.

My eyes widened.

The car was almost about to drive off the cliff.

The hairs on my back stood up as fear went through me.

"No!"

I stretched out my hand.

Something felt different in my body.

The wind around me became suffocating.

I felt a visible air on my hand.

What was happening to me?

Words I didn't know came into my head.

I opened my mouth and started speaking the incantation.

I didn't know what I was saying.

I didn't even understand the words.

But somehow, my mouth knew what to say.

The visible air went toward the car.

The car stopped.

Then it slowly moved away from the edge.

I stared in disbelief.

I just brought a car back from a cliff.

My hand was still stretched out.

I slowly lowered it.

Did I just telekinesis a car?

I looked at my hand.

Nothing looked different.

But something inside me definitely was.

"Wow. You have unlocked your powers."

I quickly turned around.

Maya was behind me, along with Serene.

I rolled my eyes.

"Don't start."

"You really don't know anything about yourself, do you?" Serene asked.

I didn't answer her.

I went straight to the car.

I opened the car door, only to see my worst enemy.

Julie.

My mouth dropped open.

Julie.

Of all people.

She was like a spoilt queen bee girl who thought the whole world belonged to her.

And now she was unconscious in a car that almost fell off a cliff.

"You don't look happy to see her," Serene remarked.

I glared at her.

"She's my worst enemy."

Maya looked inside the car.

"We need to get her to the hospital."

I sighed.

Of course.

Why couldn't one normal thing happen today?

While the three destined witches helped unconscious Julie to the hospital, someone was watching them from a distance.

The person stayed hidden.

Watching.

Waiting.

A smile slowly appeared on their face.

"Finally."

The person said, smiling.
