He didn’t hesitate when Eden made her offer. She offered to not only do the change immediately, but also asked about the wedding.
Kate was the one to jump in on that part with her immediate yes.

She had taken some initiative. Gabe was… stunned. He had plans for everything. For how he wanted things to happen, and not a single one of them came to fruition. Had he not been an ass, he probably would have been able to do some of the things he had planned.
