The drive home is silent, but not in a bad way. I feel safe and content snuggling in Logan’s lap. Now that I know what to do, it is like I have made peace with everything. Logan is still not too thrilled with the plan, but at least he understands and supports me.
The closer we get home, the wolves from Starry River and Blue Moon Peaks start appearing following the car from a distance. The tension and insecurities I thought we left behind, are slowly starting to find their way back. I might be fighting for myself, but I will be losing for others. If William kills me, it will be my loved ones that will suffer.
“Storm, am I doing the right thing? Wouldn’t it be easier and safer for everyone else if we just leave and relocate somewhere else? Dad would easily get work in another pack.”
