“Should I accompany you until the guards let you in or are you fine on your own?” Madison asked as we made our way further into Zariya City.
“I think I’ll be fine on my own. Go can go.”
“Are you sure?” She looked hesitant, making me roll my eyes.
“Come on, Madison. I’m no longer a baby. I can handle myself just fine.” I exhaled while shaking my head at her. Now, I could see her personal resemblance to Ethel. They both care too much.
Something flashed through her eyes, and then she smiled. “Yeah. After what you did today, I believed you.” She sighed before giving me a path on my shoulder. “See you.”
“You too.”
I watched her disappear into the street of slightly crowded people. It was already dark, but I was hoping that the place I wanted to go to was still open.
