THE REVELATION

Asher's eyes locked onto Ember's, his mind racing with questions. Why had she lied to him? What was she hiding?

Ember's eyes were hesitant, but she seemed to sense that Asher was not going to back down. She took a deep breath and began to explain.

"Asher, I'm sorry I lied to you," she said, her voice trembling. "I was desperate to help my brother, and I didn't know what else to do."

Asher's eyes narrowed. "What do you mean?" he demanded.

Ember's voice was hesitant. "Ethan got in over his head with the Morano crime family. He owes them a lot of money, and they're not going to stop until they get it."

Asher's eyes flashed with anger. "And you thought lying to me would help?" he demanded.

Ember's eyes were desperate. "I didn't know what else to do," she repeated. "I was trying to protect my brother."

"Asher, please forgive me," Ember said, her voice barely above a whisper.

"I'll forgive you," Asher said finally, his voice low and husky. "But I need to know more about the Morano crime family and their involvement with Ethan."

Ember's eyes were hesitant, but she nodded. "I'll tell you everything," she said.
