The FAVOUR

Asher's eyes never left Ember's face as he nodded. "I promise," he repeated, his voice low and husky. Ember's eyes searched his, as if looking for any sign of deception. But Asher's expression remained neutral, his gaze steady. Finally, Ember nodded, seeming to accept Asher's promise. "Thank you," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. Asher's eyes lingered on hers for a moment before he turned to leave. As he walked out of the apartment, he couldn't shake off the feeling that he had just gotten himself into something much deeper than he had anticipated. The next day, Asher received a call from an unknown number. "Asher Blackwood," a smooth voice said. "I hear you're looking to do a favor for Ember Wellesley." Asher's eyes narrowed. "Who is this?" he demanded. The voice chuckled. "Someone who can help you keep your promise. Meet me at the coffee shop on 5th and Main at 2 pm if you're interested." The line went dead, leaving Asher staring at his phone in frustration. At 2 pm, Asher arrived at the coffee shop, his eyes scanning the room for any sign of the mysterious caller. A figure in the corner caught his eye - a woman with long, curly hair and a bright smile. "Asher Blackwood," she said, her voice husky. "It's a pleasure to finally meet you." Asher's eyes narrowed. "Who are you?" he demanded. The woman laughed. "My name is Lena Grant. And I'm here to help you keep your promise to Ember." Asher's eyes locked onto hers, his mind racing with possibilities. What did Lena Grant want in return for her help? As they sipped their coffee, Lena explained that she had connections with the people who could help Ethan. But in return, Asher would have to do a favor for her. Asher's instincts screamed at him to walk away, but he couldn't shake off the feeling that he owed it to Ember to help her brother. "What's the favor?" Asher asked, his voice low and cautious. Lena's smile grew wider. "Oh, it's quite simple, really. I just need you to attend a charity gala with me tonight." Asher's eyes narrowed. "What's the catch?" he demanded. Lena's laughter was like music. "No catch, Asher. Just a simple favor. But I must warn you - the gala will be...enlightening." Asher's instincts screamed at him to walk away, but he couldn't shake off the feeling that he owed it to Ember to help her brother. "Fine," Asher said finally. "I'll attend the gala with you." Lena's smile grew wider. "Excellent choice, Asher. I'll pick you up at 7 pm." As Asher watched Lena leave, he couldn't shake off the feeling that he had just made a deal with the devil. !
