Memory

I walked down a very long hallway with both hands in my pockets. A very strong smell of blood wafted from the end of this passage. Most people certainly don't know that there is a basement with a very long hallway in the building belonging to the largest electronics dealer in the country. But I can figure it out with one of my abilities. The closer he got to the end of the hall, the stronger the smell of blood became. I could barely hold it in. It turned out that at the end of this hall there was a room with a large door that was tightly closed. I have no idea what room this is. I tried to push the door but it couldn't be opened. I don't think this is an ordinary door. Because right in the middle of the door there is a very strange symbol. At first, glance, plastered on the big door is a symbol of a very large star. But after you take a closer look, it's more of an inverted star image. Each end of the star has a hole. Not. It's no ordinary hole. It's more like an indentation for something. My conclusion is... if we put something that should be placed in each of those empty spaces, this huge door will open. But unfortunately, I don't have time for troublesome things like this. What's more, I don't know what to put in that blank. So I'm going to open this door in a quick and rather rough way. "Sapling of the sun." I took a small amount of solar energy from my imaginary space, turning it into a power that can burn all matter in this world. Pointed my index finger at the big door and shot a small ball that was 7 million Celsius heat. That is equivalent to the sun's outer core. The door caught fire instantly when hit by my attack. With temperatures so high, even this country can also catch fire. However, I stopped the heat from spreading in an absolute shield I put on before I fired it. "Uwah! What are you doing? You can burn this whole place down with that kind of power!" Abner who suddenly came immediately lectured me. Even though he didn't know anything. "Noisy. You can see it, can't you? There's nothing on fire other than the big door blocking our way." He couldn't refute what I said, because that was what happened. I walked into the room behind this big door. This uncontrollable smell of blood made me nauseous. "Uh! It stinks!" Abner covered his nose next to mine. Worse yet, the room is very dark. There's nothing to see in this darkness. But Abner who is very serious in his work doesn't want to waste time. He stepped deeper into the darkroom. "This is strange. There is no sign of life at all...." Abner muttered as he entered the room deeper. "Yeah, actually I've been aware of it for a while, but I feel like there's something in this room." "What do you mean?" "I set the door on fire because there was a very tight guard attached to prevent outsiders from opening it. It was like a cipher, but very complicated with symbols and several holes that had to be filled by something that only the doormaker had." "Then?" "So there must be something hidden in this room. What's more, the strong smell of blood... there must be something." "You're right. I'll go deeper." Abner stepped further away from the burnt-out door. "Gosh!" shouted Abner. I quickly followed his footsteps in the darkness. When I got closer to where he stood, I stepped on a puddle which was very strange because of its rather thick and dense texture. If this continues I can't see anything. So I made myself shine bright like the moon at night in this dark and stuffy room. The light reached the corners of the room so I could clearly see what fluid was under my feet and what surprised Abner when he saw it. A pool of blood and someone's corpse. His body was rotting. "You bastard! If you can do that, do it since we entered this room. You're wasting your time." I ignored him and walked over to the corpse lying at the end of the large room. Really sad. It couldn't even be called a human corpse. His body was so unkempt, his face was unrecognizable. His eyeballs popped out and they fell on his feet. But I was sure, "This is the culprit." "How is that possible! The body looks dead many years ago. If he was the culprit he would still be in good shape now, because the murder just happened last night." Obviously, Abner couldn't accept it. Admitting a corpse that can no longer be identified as a human being is the perpetrator of the murder is beyond his logic. "He was killed using an ability. The person who killed him must have the ability to decompose things. Also, he doesn't want the truth behind this murder to be known by anyone." I explained. "Then how do you know if this is the corpse of the perpetrator?" "Yeah... I have my ways." "But at this rate, we can't get any information." He looked uneasy at the thought of going home empty-handed before the king. "Don't worry." I crouched near the corpse leaning against the wall of the darkroom, touching its head. I can extract information from someone's memory only if that person is still alive. But that's not a problem. I just need to get his brain working again. Because only the brain stores memories for as long as humans live. I enter into my concentration to use the ability to rearrange the cells in the brain so that the brain can function again. "What are you doing?" Abner who did not understand what he saw immediately asked. "You shut up." Okay. His brain is working. It's time to move on to the next stage. "Fiddling with memories." My body seemed to be small, sucked into the corpse's head and swimming in thousands of memories of the events that he experienced during his life. This man's life is bleak. I can see it in the projected memories in his brain. His parents beat him since he was young and compared to the neighbor's children, he couldn't stand it until he finally killed his parents. Since then his life is unclear and ends up being a hitman. His ability to be invisible is very helpful in his work. Memories after memories kept popping up in front of my eyes. Until finally I found a strange memory. Just then he met someone who was wearing a military uniform, but different from that of this country. He's a man. In a room made of iron and very dark, he talked to the person. "Can you do it? Kill 98 people in one night?" the man asked. Unfortunately, because it was dark I couldn't see his face. But from his voice, one could tell that he was young. "It's an easy job, but what will I get?" The person who had become a corpse at this time seemed to be greedy. "You'll get what you've always wanted." The man smiled. Then the memories turned into moments of m*********r in the CE building. Images of people screaming for help were clear in my eyes. "To-help...." One of the victims sighed in despair who was dragging his body away from the perpetrator. But the perpetrator had no mercy and slashed the victim's head off using a long sword. The memory changed again to the image of two people talking. The two of them were wearing the same military uniform that the previous person had worn. "We've succeeded in mass-murdering 10 people. Now it's done with a bigger number, 98 people. Next, it will be 765 people. Much more than now." "Yes, this will make the eastern country nervous and scared because they don't know who did it. Because we've always hired assassins, but in the future, the higher-ups will send their men to do this work." "Hm... I don't understand what that person is thinking. He's playing with human life. First 10 people, then 98 people, then 765. It's like a countdown for something." It's a shame they realized someone was eavesdropping on their conversation and caught it right away. And it turns out that the person who was eavesdropping was the assassin they hired. After that, the perpetrator was taken to a very large room which I concluded was the room where he was killed. A moment later came the man who had done transactions with him before. "What would you do?" The culprit asked the look on his face showing that he was scared. The man was very scary with the thin and pale face he had. "Don't worry. I'll just give you what you've always wanted, which is death." He laughed grimly. The man immediately put his palm on the face of the perpetrator so that his vision was covered. "Decomposition." The last thing seen in the perpetrator's life was a hideous smile that appeared on the face of the man in front of him. Then suddenly his vision turned completely dark. I woke up from that terrible memory. "Oi! Are you all right? You screaming loud." Abner touched my shoulder. I think ... it was the scream of the perpetrator before being killed that came out of my mouth. "I've earned more than enough for now. Time to go back." I ignored him, stood up, and walked out of this b****y room. "Oi! Wait for me!" Abner ran to keep up with his pace. I must report this to the king immediately.
