“You saw me about three hours ago.” Not that she was complaining. She was highly enjoying this little game of theirs. It was nice for someone to show this much interest in her well being. Mark shrugged, unfazed. “Things can change in three hours.” “If you’re asking if I’m still stressed, the answer would be ‘yes’. But you certainly took the edge off. Put it this way, my relaxed is a normal person’s stressed.” A ringing sound caught her attention, momentarily distracting her from the conversation. An ice cream cart appeared; the vendor, a middle-aged man with gray hair and wearing a red and white striped uniform, pushing it into place across the sidewalk from where they sat. Meg eyed the pictures of chocolate-covered popsicles and ice cream sandwiches and her stomach twisted with hunger.
