THE SUNLIGHT filtered through the curtains when Esther woke up the next morning. Nang magmulat siya ng kaniyang mata, nakita niya si Ciaran na gising na at nakaupo sa gilid ng kama habang nakatitig ito sa kawalan.

Ciaran turned. His lips turned into a smile. “Hey, sweetheart.”
“You didn’t sleep much, did you?” Esther asked, pushing herself to get up.
“Marami lang akong iniisip, Sweetheart. Come on, wash up, and let’s get some breakfast.”
Tumango si Esther. Bumaba siya ng kama at nagtungo sa banyo.
Ciaran waited for Esther. Sa totoo lang ay kinakabahan siya sa hindi malamang kadahilanan. Maybe because he knew he would meet his father today.
Nang lumabas si Esther ng banyo, maayos na ito, hindi na magulo ang buhok.
