The phone rang once before his agent picked up. "Julian? What is it? I am still working overtime on your divorce announcement.
"A bunch of media outlets are asking for exclusive interviews. I put together a list. Tell me if any of them look good to you."
Julian felt himself slip back into the familiar rhythm of work. It steadied him, somehow.
"I will only do one interview. Pick a media house that has a good relationship with the company."
"That is not why I called, though. I know you and your wife have a solid marriage. I wanted to ask you something about relationships.
"I want to figure out how I really feel about Lily."
The line went quiet. The background noise faded.
His agent had moved to an empty meeting room.
"Alright. I will ask you a few questions. Answer them honestly."
