This morning, as usual, Xavier left for campus. Just like some students who preferred to save, or even because they didn’t have money to buy a vehicle. They preferred to take the bus that had become a campus facility. The buses will transport the students according to their respective districts.
Xavier sat alone in a corner. It was Xavier’s favourite place. More than that, so far no one was willing to sit next to him. Even if the bus was completely full.
To be honest, Xavier didn’t even know why his friends seemed reluctant to be around him. It was just that they heard rumours then they didn’t want to get close to Xavier for fear of being bullied by Stephen. Who was not afraid of Stephen? The richest student on campus who had undeniable power.
And who didn’t know about Xavier who had become an eternal target by Stephen? So anyone who approached Xavier will be bullied too.
“Excuse me, may I sit here?”
At first, Xavier didn’t hear that, until a pat on his shoulder made him look up. Xavier was silent, his eyes fixed on the figure standing beside him.
“H … Helena?” muttered Xavier, half in disbelief.
The beautiful woman smiled so kindly, she was still standing while holding some of her books. The bag that was still on her shoulder occasionally fell perfectly on her arm.
“Excuse me, may I sit here? The bus is full, and I don’t know where to sit. When I walked to the back, I saw your empty spot.”
“Oh, please.”
Xavier hurriedly shifted his seat, tugging at the earphones that were in his ears. More than that, Xavier immediately took his bag that he had put beside him so Helena could sit.
“Thank you.”
Helena sat beside Xavier, Xavier just nodded stupidly then he looked straight ahead.
Xavier felt so awkward, Xavier was nervous to death. Even now, cold sweat had started pouring down his cheeks. Even though the bus was air-conditioned, the large number of passengers should have overheated Xavier. But now Xavier actually felt cold. Even … shivered.
“How was the result of my photo yesterday. Have you printed it?”
Xavier swallowed hard, not even a squeak could be heard from him. Every now and then he wanted to raise the position of his glasses, but they kept sliding down.
“I have.”
That was all that came out of Xavier’s mouth, even Xavier felt that he was the stupidest human in the world.
“Helena, why are you taking the bus? Oh my god, having you on the campus bus is absolutely amazing!”
One of the students who knew that Helena was there shouted, then everyone looked at Helena.
Even though Helena felt awkward and uncomfortable with that look, but she still managed to be friendly and relaxed. That was why so many people liked Helena. Even though Helena was the daughter of a rich and popular person, in reality Helena was the most humble figure in the whole world.
“You’re too much, come on … my car ran out of gas on the way. I called the house but no one answered my phone. And because today my class has an exam and I have to come on time, I rushed to the bus stop. Luckily the campus bus came soon, I couldn’t imagine that if the school bus didn’t come, I would definitely be the saddest human being in the whole world.”
“Why didn’t you call Stephen, Helena? Aren’t you two in a relationship?” asked the student again.
“What? Stephen and I are in a relationship?” asked Helena, surprised by that statement. Then Helena laughed again. “Don’t joke. Who is in a relationship with Stephen? Me? Of course not. We are just friends, my dad is on good terms with his dad. So we both know each other. That’s it.”
Helena was still smiling so kindly, then the student finally left. Helena let out a deep breath, and it was secretly noticed by Xavier.
“Humph, I really don’t understand why everyone says that I have a relationship with someone like Stephen.” Helena muttered.
“Because you and Stephen are compatible, you are beautiful and Stephen is handsome. You’re a rich kid, so is Stephen.” Xavier finally spoke.
Helena immediately turned to look at Xavier, then she smiled again.
“Do you think I look for boyfriend just because he is handsome and rich?” she asked.
Xavier was silent, he drew one eyebrow perfectly. Because Xavier didn’t know the answer.
“I like kind men, Xavier.”
Thump!
For the second time Helena called Xavier’s name so loudly.
It didn’t take long for the bus to stop, and all the students on the bus got off.
“Xavier.”
“Yes?” Xavier so obediently answered Helena.
“Yesterday during the field trip, did you go home alone?” Helena asked.
Xavier was silent, he didn’t even answer anything that was asked by Helena.
“I was looking for you and you weren’t on the bus. Is it true that you didn’t go home with friends?”
Even Helena noticed that!
“Oh, I was picked up by my family that time. So, I went home with them.”
“Oh, I think you should report to professor Robert, he was really dizzy looking for you everywhere. He almost even ordered the bus to go back to the museum just to find you. I think Professor Robert really likes you, Xavier.”
Xavier only smiled faintly, so Helena also got off the bus. Xavier stepped off the bus, then he narrowed his eyes again.
Somehow he felt strange since this morning. The glasses he always wore were different. When he wore the glasses, the view was not as clear as how it used to. Instead, it was like a blurred vision that was quite blinding. But when Xavier took off his glasses suddenly the view was much clearer when he had been wearing glasses before.
“It seems my glasses are broken, I have to replace my glasses soon.” Xavier muttered.
He suddenly jerked backwards, the glasses in his hand slipped off perfectly. Until then Xavier managed to control his body, and those glasses ….
Broke!
It was broken in two under a shoe a young man named ... Stephen.
Xavier’s jaw hardened, he didn’t expect that Stephen was still trying to act up after everything that happened.
“Good morning, Xavier? Oh, sorry ... I had no idea your glasses fell off. I accidentally stepped on your glasses. Broken huh? What a pity.” Stephen scoffed while holding back a laugh.
While two of Stephen’s other friends had laughed out loud at that.
Xavier’s hands clenched tightly. For some reason Xavier became more easily agitated now compared to the previous Xavier.
With an annoyed expression on his face he immediately picked up his glasses, but Xavier’s nape was again held by Stephen’s two friends.
“While you are bowing, shouldn’t you have to kiss Stephen’s feet?”
“There’s no such rule.” Xavier protested.
“You dare defy Stephen, Xavier? A poor selfless person like you?”
Xavier was still silent, he tried to stand up but was pushed down by Stephen’s two friends.
“Tsk! Look, how can a detestable human like poor Xavier dare to me. Has he forgotten that his tuition fees alone are at the mercy of my family?”
Xavier knew that Stephen’s family was one of the biggest donors on the campus where he was studying now. And the donation money was used to provide scholarships to students who did not have money to study.
However, Xavier didn’t care anymore.
“If you want to withdraw your donation why don’t you do it?” said Xavier who succeeded in making Stephen’s emotions ignited.
“Oh really? If I did, do you think you could go to college? Oh or do you want to stop studying here? It’s good if you have self awareness of that.” Stephen burst out laughing.
Xavier’s emotions were mounting, he then chose to leave. Xavier rushed to the administration to change everything.
Yes, Xavier didn’t want to depend forever on the money of arrogant rich people like the Stephen’s family. Xavier had the money now and he was about to revoke his scholarship. He paid all tuition fees until he graduated before his black card was lost.
Not long after, Xavier arrived at the administration room, then he met a female administrative officer.
“Xavier, what do you want? Hasn’t your scholarship been disbursed some time ago? It looks like you won’t get any excess next semester because you have a lot of overdue books and it will be deducted by your extra scholarship money.”
“Sorry, Miss Alia. I came here not because I wanted to ask about my scholarship excess. I just want to revoke all my scholarships and will pay my tuition fees in completely until I graduate.”
“What?” The administration officer was shocked by that. The woman then smiled, looking at Xavier up and down many times. “Are you kidding me, Xavier? Tuition fees here are very expensive, that’s why you have to study hard to get a scholarship. Now you said that you want to pay all tuition fees independently until graduation, then want to revoke your scholarship? Are you drunk, Xavier?”
Xavier immediately handed him his black card, he didn’t want to make any small talk at all.
“I’ll pay until graduation day, and revoke my scholarship. If necessary take all the money that has been paid with my scholarship from the moment I started going to college, Miss Alia.”
Alia was silent, she was stunned to see Xavier’s card. She didn’t know what happened to Xavier, in fact Xavier now had a lot of money.
“Okay, I’ll take care of everything. Please wait a minute, Xavier.”
“Thank you very much, Miss Alia.”
“Hopefully you can now go to college in peace.” Alia spoke again.
Xavier understood what Alia was saying. Moreover, if the scholarship was revoked ... It was one of Xavier’s efforts to get rid of Stephen’s bullying.
