I felt like I could breathe easier when Rita’s fever left her. She needed a couple of days of recuperation, but she was able to take a bath and changed into some clean clothes and we could get the sheets of the bedding washed and dressed in new ones. She asked me how Sweet Demon was and if I had ridden him at all. I confessed to her that I had been riding him, to teach him to be safer for her to ride, even taking an afternoon to trim his hooves, which were long overdue for a farrier. She wasn’t upset by this and was glad he was turning out so nicely. She politely asked about Reyer too, which touched me.
