There was the sound of metal clashing together and Rita looked up startled. She ran off to investigate and I took a step forward. I couldn’t see anything with these damned blinkers on, but I could hear my sparring partner beside me. Now that Rita wasn’t there to mind us, and after standing there a few minutes, we’d caught our breath and became fidgety again. I bobbed my head, but Rita had tied the reins in a knot and looped it over the brake. Reyer swung his head and snapped at me, getting caught by the bearing rein that Erik had put on the outside of our necks connecting to our harnesses so we couldn’t fight. It was annoying to have our head restrained, and I tossed my head up and down, trying to throw my nose out, but couldn’t because of the reins. We played with our bits fiercely
