CHAPTER 9
KARA
“Everyone, everyone.” I stand in front of the class, holding up my hands as the kids are chatting among themselves. “Everyone, eyes on me, please.”
Lin is still sitting at my desk, I can see the nervous way that she looks over the room, but I think she’ll be fine. I hadn’t expected that she’d never done this before, but the way I’ve seen her around me or with Tys, I think she’ll be great with the kids.
“Eyes on me, please.” I look at everyone individually, and the noise finally settles down. “Okay, as you can all see, I’ve moved the tables around and we’ve got a fine assistant to help us today.” I motion towards Lin. “This is Lin, she’s taking care of her mum’s store, Maaike’s Books, in town. Say hi, everyone.”
