Chapter 13 It was late at night. The store was closed after a busy and exhausting day of selling. She and LJ blew through all of their conversation topics early in the day and spent the rest of it in a rough silence. She wasn't teaching, wasn't spending it eating at home, or with Mickey, or at the diner. She was sitting in the parking lot of the Rose Hollow Mirror. She didn't want to go in, didn't want to leave her car, so she waited. She was sitting there for hours, for way longer than she would want to admit, and she was sure that she was going to die sitting in her car. Above her, the sky was inky and black, no stars or moon. It felt suffocating, as if she were stuck in a vacuum. Becky exhaled and checked her phone. She had a couple of texts and she replied, setting it back down again
