The diner was busy, but when wasn't the diner busy? Becky had left LJ to close the store and had been camping out in a booth that wasn't her regular one for hours. She could see Rachel behind the counter, wiping off menus with a little smile on her face. She had been drinking too much coffee and she was tapping her fingers on the table. All the patrons had no idea what was about to happen in Minnie’s Diner. She could feel pressure and excitement building in her body.
She had bought a book, a trashy novel she had read over and over again. She was halfway through it, but was finding she couldn't concentrate on the words. The tiny print swam around in front of her eyes until it all blurred together, and so she had given up.
