ARIUS’ POV The day dragged like a sentence. I’d been staring at the same line of text on my computer screen for almost ten minutes. My hand rested on the mouse, but my mind wasn’t in the office… it was somewhere else entirely. Somewhere between her lips and the way she’d whispered my name that night. Katherine. Her name alone did something strange to me. It didn’t sound like any other woman’s name. The morning light spilled across my desk, catching the edge of the whiskey glass I’d forgotten to move. I hadn’t slept much last night… every time I closed my eyes, I saw her face again, the way she’d looked at me before she’d kissed me back. That softness… the kind of softness that makes a man feel something he shouldn’t. And I hated it. I hated that I couldn’t get her out of my head.
