AMARIS
I got to the training grounds as Anthony and the trackers did. Stephen, Caleb, Daniel, Stevie, and Lara all stood in a line, Anthony slightly in front of them.
"Give me a play by play of what happened, Anthony. How exactly did "the female can't get hurt" translate into her getting shot with a tranquilliser?" I ask, the tension in the air rising.
"The rogue was just about to harm the girl, I ordered everyone to shoot the rogue, one shot went off slightly later than the others and hit the girl." Anthony replied, "We don't know whose gun it was".
I notice Caleb shoot a glance at Anthony, before he says "it was my shot, Alpha. I was the one that pulled the trigger too late."
I turn to look at Caleb properly. I can tell he regrets what happened. Sweat is starting to bead at his forehead. His breathing is slightly faster than the other trackers. "Don't be too hard on him. It was a genuine mistake." Wen says to me. "But he hurt "mate" Wen, does that not matter?" I reply, inwardly c*****g an eyebrow at her. "If you give him anything worse than the usual punishment, people will want to know why..." she replies softly. "I know" I say back, "I just like hearing you say it as well."
"Thank you for being honest, Caleb. I know it was a genuine mistake. You will take up reflex training again, for the next 4 weeks. You need to be able to pull the shot at the exact time asked." Caleb looks at me, eyes wide.
"Yes Alpha!" he replies, standing straighter. Anthony looks at me, confused. This is a complete 180° on the Amaris he dealt with yesterday.
"Anthony, I believe the rogue is in our dungeons now, yes?"
"Yes, Alpha!" Anthony states, "He is down there now, bound in silver. The other two left him and headed away from the territory when they realised he was heading closer to our walls."
"Perfect", I reply. "We will let him stew for a couple of days and then head down and meet our guest of honour."
Anthony smirked. "Sounds like a plan, Alpha."
UNKNOWN POV
I woke up slowly, hissing at the pain around my wrists. I was in a small room, 8 feet by 8 feet. There was a concrete cot which I was sat on, a small hole in the floor, I am assuming it was for when I needed to go to the toilet.
The one source of light was the door, a shining silver, jail style door, with bars from the top to the bottom. A small letterbox was at the bottom of the door, for passing food through.
Around my wrists were silver shackles. the skin underneath was open and raw, silver and werewolves do not mix.
What the f**k happened...?
I slowly started to piece together my memories of that day... the other two rogues f****d off when they realised I was going closer to the Lunar Territory. f*****g pricks.
I was following... the redhead. God she had smelt amazing. I followed her into a little clearing... but then the minx got the upper hand and held a knife to my throat. She had looked just like... Luna.
I hadn't seen the Luna in nearly 14 years. I had loved her so much... She was the light of my life.
The fact this young she wolf looked just like her...
I had to have her. This room, these shackles. They were just temporary set backs.
I would get out, and I would find her.
I heard a jangle at the door in front of me. A cardboard tray was pushed through a letterbox at the bottom of the floor. I went over to it, the chains allowing me to just reach the tray.
A bottle of water and 4 ham sandwiches. no cutlery, nothing I could fashion into a weapon.
Fuckers!
"It's your own fault", my wolf said to me snidely."You could have left with the rogues, you could be free right now, hunting and running among the trees. But no. You had to go hunting the redhead. Where has it gotten you? Was it worth it? Did you have fun?"
My wolf threw up a block before I could answer, cutting me off again.
What was the point in having a wolf if they just ignored you?
The seal of the bottle of water was unbroken. I couldn't smell anything nefarious in the sandwiches. I chugged half the bottle of water , saving the rest for later. I had no idea how long it would be before I got anymore. The sandwiches I ate slowly. I couldn't taste anything off about them, but I was too hungry to care either way.
AMARIS POV
The day passed with little drama. I could feel the pull towards the hospital wing all day, getting stronger the more I ignored it.
I went over my notes on the hunters, I spent hours in the gym. Nothing was helping. I mind linked Erik to meet me on the training grounds. Sparring might work.
I went up to my room and changed into work out clothes, removing my white shirt, tie, black jeans and brogues and pulling out my training gear.
I tied my hair up in my signature bun, before pulling on my Nike Hyper KO Boxing Boots, my black Nike Pro 365 shorts and a sleeveless open side tank top. I always wore sports bras, if I wore a bra at all.
I went to my balcony and jumped the 8 floors to the training grounds below. One of the many perks of being an Alpha.
"Show off" Erik said, smirking at me.
"Ah shut up", I replied, laughing. "Let's get too it. Alexa-" I had speakers installed around the training ground, as well as an Alexa, so that we could blast music for training as and when necessary. "-please play Training Workout 1".
The sounds of Dr Dre fill the arena as Erik and I circle each other. The sound of the music draws onlookers- a lot of guards like to make bets on who will win- not that there's any point if I am in the ring.
Erik feints to the left, trying to bait me. I keep circling him, not allowing him to throw my train of thought. He feints to the right before running straight at me, spinning behind me just before I grab him. I react accordingly, elbowing him in his abdomen, winding him. As he starts to double over I spin around and slid my head under his arm, wrapping my arms around his waist and flipping him backwards into a Northern Lights Surplex.
I yell "tap out!" laughing as Erik squirms underneath me. "Tap out!" Erik tries to buck me off him but I hold firm. "Tap out!" I yell again, as the castle omegas giggle at what they are seeing.
"Fine! f**k!" Erik taps out and I let him go, standing back as he flips into an upright position. "Again?" he asks me, raising his eyebrow.
"Again."
...
"f**k Ama, what has gotten into you?" Erik asks me, winded.
"Not here". I mind link him. "Just felt like beating your ass is all" I joke back, smirking. "One more for luck?"
"I think 10 rounds with you is enough for anybody", he replied, cricking his neck.
"Anybody else?" I reply, laughing as I look round at the guards watching. They all put their hands up and back off, smirking at the sight of Erik.
"Fine, but get ready for training tomorrow," I shout out, c*****g an eyebrow at their retreating forms. "Food?" I ask Erik.
"Food."
We head over to the kitchen to see if we can rustle up any food. Mrs. Danvers, the head chef, was preparing food for tea as we entered.
"Alright Danvers?" I say brightly, the prospect of food already cheering me up.
"Hello Alpha," she replies, smiling at me. "I suppose you two are here for food after your little sparring session out back?"
"You heard about that, did you?" Erik muttered, rolling his shoulders.
"I believe everyone has heard about it by now, Beta." Mrs. Danvers replied, chuckling. "I don't know why you bother sparring with the Alpha, she always gets the best of you."
"Yeh, yeh, I know, I know. Just call me a sucker for punishment" Erik said.
I smirk at him before turning my attention to Mrs. Danvers. "Is there any of your scrumptious food going?"
"You are just in luck, tea is nearly ready to be served." She replied, smiling at me.
"You are a star", I say, smiling at her. "What's on the menu tonight?"
"Well tonight we have your favourite, loaded nachos, fajitas, and churros to finish." Mrs. Danvers said, as the kitchen omegas started to set up the sauces and serving bowls."
"You are such a legend Danvers," I reply, going to the fridge and grabbing a large glass of coca cola. "Want anything Erik?"
"A glass of coke would be amazing" he replied, smiling at me.
I make one up and turn to Mrs. Danvers. "Do you need any help with anything?"
"No no, you sit down" she replied, bustling me and Erik into our seats.
By the time the other ranked members made their way downstairs Erik and I had already dug in to the food.
"Good sparring session?" my dad, Alexander asked.
"Did you hear about it too?" Erik asked, incredulous.
"I think everyone has heard that Ama beat the s**t out of you for ten rounds Erik," my dad replied, laughing. "Ama, is everything ok?"
I throw a sideways glance at him, before taking a mouthful of my drink. "Everything is peachy dad, you know me."
'Uh-huh, and this has nothing to do with the young lady in the hospital wing or the rogue in the dungeons?" Dad asked wryly.
FFS, I thought. Once an alpha, always an alpha. "Everything is fine, dad".
"Sure, sure," he replies, smiling. "Anyway, how's the preparations for the Annual Alpha Meeting going?"
The Annual Alpha Meeting, or AAM for short, was an annual meeting once a year for all of the Alphas in Europe. This year the Lunar Pack was hosting it and this was my first year ever hosting the AAM since I took on the role of Alpha. Alphas and Betas travelled from all over to be there, it was the biggest event in our social calender and the Lunas would also attend if they felt like it.
A lot of unmated Alphas had been dropping hints for the past couple of years that they wanted to be chosen mates with me. While I didn't scream 'feminine', I was still considered an attractive female, and female Alphas were hard to come by. Children that have 2 Alpha parents were ridiculously strong, and merging a pack with the Lunar Pack would be most Alphas wildest dream. While I was looking forward to the AAM, I was not looking forward to the meat market mentality of the male Alphas when they looked at me.
"Preparations are going fine, invitations have already been sent out, 70% of the packs have responded saying they are attending. Mrs. Denvers, David, and I will be going over the menu for the three days in the next week, ensuring that national dishes are included and we are clearing out some of the unused cottages in the territory for the Alphas that prefer to stay a bit closer to nature. The planes are already prepped for the Alphas who just want to travel quickly straight from Oslo, who don't have air transport, and we have moved around the planes and helicopters on our air strip for the new arrivals. Some Alphas will be driving up as well, however due to how large Europe is we are trying to make it as easy as possible for people, we are right at the top of Europe after all. We still have 6 weeks to go, so everything is right on target."
"Sounds good Ama, my dad said, smiling. I knew I made the right decision making you Alpha. I got a lot of grief for it, you were 21, without your mate, but I knew you could handle it. The business has went from strength to strength and our pack has boomed over the past 3 years. You have really stepped up to the plate."
"Thanks dad, I replied, smiling back at him. It had been a tough couple of years, but it was really coming together. I just had to resolve the issue with the hunters, deal with the rogue in the dungeons and...
I could still feel the pull towards the hospital wing.
I shook my head, clearing my thoughts as a smell wafted in front of my nose. "Churros!" I said triumphantly, digging in.
"You and your food," my mum Maria said, laughing.
I rolled my eyes at her before chowing down. "Will Essie be back for the AAM?" I asked her. Esther, or Essie as we preferred to call her, was my younger sister. She was currently away at Oxford University in England, studying Engineering Science. She was a certified genius and her passion was building gadgets that helped our links to the Norwegian Intelligence Service, as well as other businesses we had links with. She had graduated school early and had left when she was 17, starting her university studies a year early. She hadn't actually been back since she had left 4 years ago, but she was finishing her masters in the next couple of weeks.
"She should be back, yes. She's really excited to get stuck into the family business." Agnar Enterprises had been a family run business for decades. We had started small, building surveillance equipment and home security items, but over the past twenty years we branched out, creating small, specialised items that helped with tracking and taking out people of interest. Some of our guards were in the current top assassins and bounty hunters in the world and they would still go on missions if the client was right and the pay was good enough. They mainly tracked supernaturals who had went off the rails, but they did take some human bounties as well.
Essie wouldn't be taking part in the bounties or hunting, but the gadgets she created would blow competitors out the window and take our business to the next level. We already had MI6 interested in our work due to the fact she studied at Oxford.
"I'm excited to see what she's learnt", I reply, smiling. I also was interested to see who her mate was. She hadn't found him yet and her and Anthony were always drawn to each other before she left. Her return should be interesting, to say the least.
When dinner finished I went up to my office, going over the meagre hunter files I owned, trying to see if I had missed anything. I was going round and round in circles. "f**k!" I shouted, pushing everything on the floor. f**k this.
I started walking aimless circles around the castle, absentmindedly walking closer and closer to the hospital without realising it.
I looked up and saw the hospital wing right in front of me. The smell of cinnamon and roses wafted towards me, pulling me without me even realising I was walking towards it.
I stopped at the door of Room 1, cinnamon and roses surrounding me entirely.
"One little look won't hurt".
I didn't even know if that was me whispering to Wen or Wen whispering to me.
"One little look won't hurt".
I braced myself and took a step over the threshold.
