Eric walked into his office and sat down. He could remember how his employees were looking at him, he knew something was up. He looks at Luck. “Sir, your marriage was announced on public TV's and newspapers,” Luck said. “Oh, so did it say who I was married to? to?” Eric asked “It's said to a mysterious lady whose face they couldn't capture,” luck said. “Good, don't let her face show in the media, she hates the attention,” Eric said. “Yes, boss,” Luck said and left. * * * “How did it happen? Did they have a fight or something?” Avery asked Eugene, looking at the dead bodies on the table. “I don't know ma'am, but all I know is that Andrew Richardson is involved in this mess,” He said. “Why does it take this long to catch just an ordinary man? I was this close to catching him, if only John hadn't died,” Avery said. “We will get him,” Eugene said. That bastard, her phone rang and when she checked it, it was an unknown number calling her. She picked up. “Avery Lincoln on the line, who is this?” Avery said, Silence “Hello?” She could hear shuffling and breathing on the other line. “Hello?” she called. “Ma'am, it's Luck, The boss wants you at the company,” the other line said and ended the call. “Luck? Who the hell is luck….. Oh, it's the pervert assistant”. She looked at Eugene, who looked at her weirdly. “Duty calls, I need to head back to the company. Eugene, take care of this, find out what happened and report to me,” Avery said and left. “She isn't at the company?” Eric asked, looking at Luck, who had just dropped the phone. “No sir, she's not there,” he answered. “So where could she be? She dressed up and left before I woke up, so where did she go to?” Eric asked. “I don't know sir, but she's on her way,” Luck said. * * * “Oh, I can see you are new here. Why don't you call your boss and tell him that Avery is here to see him?” Avery said as the receptionist stopped her. The new receptionist looks her up and down and laughs. “I would have called the boss, but he's in a meeting, so I'm sorry you will have to go back and come back whenever he's done with his meeting,” she said. Avery smiled. “I will tell you a story. There once was a young girl who used to be a receptionist here, exactly where you are sitting, that was where she sat, but do you know what happened to her? She got fired, why? Because she refused me from going to see your boss,” Avery gave her a warm smile. The receptionist's eyes opened wide. Is what she's saying true? No it can't be, it can't be true. “You think you can scare me…..” “Miss, you are here,” a voice cut her short. They both turned around and saw Luck walking down to them. “Miss” Luck bowed gently to Avery. “You should have called and told me you were here,” he said. "I just came in not long. Do you people have a habit of employing rude and disrespectful people?” Avery asked. “I'm sorry, miss. I don't understand what you mean,” Luck said. Avery pointed at the receptionist. “That's what I mean.” Luck immediately understood what she meant and sighed. “Listen up everyone. Miss Avery here is a respectable guest of our boss. So, whenever she comes, allow her to go immediately. You must have heard of the name Avery Lincoln, of the Lincoln enterprise, she's the one and also the wife of the boss, if it's heard that she's being refused from going to see the boss. Your job will be at stake and that includes you.” he says, pointing to the receptionist. “You will be given one last chance today, let it not repeat itself again. Miss please this way,” he said and left. Avery smiled and followed him. Immediately, they left the hallway uproar with whispered noise. “So Mr MacMillies married the infamous second daughter of the Lincoln family,” one asked. “I'm just hearing it for the first time today,” the other responded. “Yes, I've heard that the second daughter of the Lincoln family is the one overseeing the company, but she's not being shown in public, the mass didn't even have her picture, only that of her father and eldest daughter of the family, who would have thought that she's this beautiful” the first one said. “Who knows, may she seduced Mr MacMillies to marry her. People like her are always like this,” the other responded. “You better be quiet, I didn't hear what you said,” the first guy said and went back to his work.
