“What the hell?!” A thunderous voice could be heard in a study.
“How did this happen? When did it happen? It might be a lie”.
The news of Eric MacMillies marriage to Avery Lincoln is all over the internet. Immediately Luck announced it, it spread fast like wildfire. No one would have guessed that Eric would marry Avery. The infamous second daughter of the Lincoln family. The only person that the public doesn't know.
Mr Edwards is outraged. He's a shareholder in Ericmac Company. The reason why he's angry is because, while bringing back his company, Eric helped him, and in the process they discussed marriage. Eric is supposed to be married to his daughter, not the Lincoln family daughter.
Edwards is the 4th richest family in the whole of South America, the 4th and the last close to the middle class.
“I'm sorry sir, but I just got the information from our aid in his company. It said that his assistant announced it” His right-hand man said.
“If his assistant announced it, it means it's true,” Mr Edwards said.
“Yes, boss, I checked, it's true they got married as a result of both fathers' influence,” his right-hand man said.
“I see, let's pay MacMillies a visit,” Mr Edwards smiled sinisterly.
*. *. *.
“Why did you call me here? I was actually busy when I got your call,” Avery asked. She was sitting opposite Eric in his office.
“ Were you at the company?” Eric asked coldly, not looking at her.
Avery scoffed, “How does where I am affect you? What I do and where I go should not be your concern. Why am I here, husband?” Avery asked.
Eric smirks
“Here, put in your signature,” Eric said, handing her a file.
She took the file, opened it and read it.
Her eyes bulged out of their socket.
“Are you stupid, what's this nonsense? I hand over 50% of my company shares to you?” Avery shouted.
“Didn't you read the terms and conditions of getting married to me? I will help revive your company. 50%of the shares goes to me, then the remaining 50% goes to you. That's a fair business deal,” Eric said, raising his head and looking at her.
“I didn't consent to this. If I had known this was how it was going to be, I wouldn't have bothered getting married to a pervert like you. You are delusional,” Avery said.
"And besides, my marriage to you was to pay for your help. So where did the 50% share come from?
"I don't need to answer you, woman, put in your signature," Eric said coldly.
"I will do no such thing pervert."
“Pervert?” Eric said, looking at her in the eyes.
“Yes, that's who you are. You and my dad made a stupid deal. You should go meet him to sign the useless contract, not me. I'm not signing that, I'm not selling my company off to you," Avery said, dropping the file on the table.
Eric stood up and walked towards her, smirking.
“What do you think you are doing?” Avery asked and stood up immediately.
“What is wrong in handing over your company shares to your husband?” Eric asked her, looking straight into her blue eyes.
“Husband?” Avery laughed. “You are nowhere close to being my husband. I'm married to you because you can revive my company, nothing more. Now get out of my way. Pervert,” Avery said, moving back as Eric kept moving towards her.
Eric smirk. Eyes on her lips. He could remember how very soft they were when he kissed them during the wedding. His eyes flew to her eyes, then back to her lips.
“Say it again,” Eric said.
“What?”
“Say it again”
“What are you?”
He stared into her eyes and his attention also dropped to her lips. Before either of them knew it, Eric's lips landed on Avery's own.
Avery couldn't believe it, her eyes widened in shock. Eric is kissing her. Wait what? She's allowing Eric to kiss her.
Eric didn't know what came over him, just the feel of her lips doing wonders to him. He just doesn't want to leave. He could feel her struggling to leave his hold, but he couldn't. Her lips were everything he needed.
“Ahem” They heard someone clear their throat behind them.
Avery managed to leave, both of them breathing heavily.
“Slap!” Avery gave him a hard slap. Eric looked at her and could see her eyes glistening with unshed tears.
She moved away from him, picked up her handbag, took the file from the table and left the room with the two men looking at her.
“Sir,” Luck started.
Eric couldn't believe what just happened. Why the hell did he kiss her? She's not like his type. He touched his cheeks where Avery slapped him. He smirked. Feisty.
“Sir,” Luck called again.
“What is it?” Eric turned, looking at him.
“Louis and James are found dead,” Luck said, showing him the picture of the dead bodies.
