“What the hell?” Avery shouted.
Eric didn't pay her any attention but continued operating his phone.
Avery stood up and looked at him.
“What rubbish is this?” She asked, waving the paper in his face.
Eric looked up at her and sighed.
“I was only told you were disrespectful. I wasn't told you can't read and don't know how to put things together,” Eric said emotionless and cold.
“That's an insult, take it back,” Avery shouted.
Eric scoffed, and looked at her.
“It says on that paper, 6 rules that you should abide by in my house, one, don't talk to me, two, don't touch my stuff, three, mind your business; four, don't enter my room or my study.”
Avery laughed.
“Are you stupid? Or you are stupid?”
“5,Stop throwing yourself at me wearing skimpy clothes, 6,improper dressing is prohibited in this house,” Eric said nonchalantly.
“Throwing myself at you? Improper dressing? You've definitely gone bunkers….”
“Abide by the rules and everything will be okay. If not, I won't tell you what will happen next,” Eric said, stood up and was about to leave.
“Are you crazy? Throwing myself at you, you kissed me first pervert, you threw your stupid self at me first i***t,!” Avery shouted, frustrated.
Eric stopped looking at her, his brows furrowed, his mind went back to the kiss in the office. She was really pissed back then and looked even more pissed when he cleared his throat.
“Abide by my rules, crazy lady,” he said, and went upstairs.
“What? Crazy? You are the one who is crazy, putting stupid rules in a house, who cares about you or your stupid bedroom and study. Ughhhh!” Avery shouted and sat on the chair.
_________
A few moments later, Eric came out downstairs, dressed and looking smart. He saw Avery sitting on the chair looking dazed. Eric couldn't fail to admit that she was beautiful. She has a set of beautiful blue eyes that he has never seen.
“Ahem,” he cleared his throat to grab her attention.
“You should go and change your clothes. Father is coming here to spend some days with us,” he said, and was about to leave.
“Father? Which father?” Avery asked.
“My father,” he said and left.
Avery looked at the door and sighed. She went upstairs, pulled off her clothes and soaked herself in the bath tub.
________
“Knock knock knock”
“Don't tell me you are sleeping in different rooms, isn't she your wife? Aren't you supposed to share a room?”
“Mind your business,” Eric's cold voice was heard.
“Hmm, I wonder, oh!! You guys had a fight? Is that why she's in a separate room? I knew it, no one can tolerate you,” said Marcy Said.
“Will you keep shut? Why isn't she answering the door?” Eric asked, irritated already and continued knocking.
“She might not be at home. Why don't you call her first, brother”
Eric looked at Marcy and took out his phone, looking at the phone screen.
“Don't tell me you don't have your wife's number, Brother? And you call yourself a married man. What if something had happened to her? How do you contact her then?” Marcy said in a rush.
Eric dialed a number on his phone. The person picked up the first ring. “Call Ms Lincoln right now and confirm where she is,” he dropped the phone.
“Ms Lincoln, woah I really do not want this type of marriage, I hope you are not slaving her off” as the door to the room opens up.
“Will you keep shut-” Eric's eyes popped open at the image before his eyes. A white towel wrapped on her body didn't get to her knees, another one wrapped in her wet hair, her neck could be seen, her milky glass skin.
Who is this person, and why is she coming out of Avery's room? Wait, Avery's room. He shook his head again and saw that it was Avery.
Eric quickly averted his eyes, “Put on something appropriate and come downstairs,” he said coldly, and left dragging Marcy with him.
Avery kept looking, not knowing what was going on. She locked the door and went back to the room and sat on the dressing chair.
She just said to take a soak, and she didn't know when she slept off in the tub.
She woke up to the sound of her phone ringing. She quickly left the bath and on getting to pick up the call she heard voices at her door. She abandoned the phone, looking for what to wear but realized she hadn't brought out her clothes, quickly took the towel she saw on the rack tied around her chest and the other on her wet hair. She went to open her door, and he met Eric and another lady. Before she could say something, Eric said something and left, dragging the lady with him.
What the hell is wrong with him? Was he killed when he was a child? Wait! Was he like this when
he was a child?
“I'm certain he had no friends.” Avery murmured as she put on her clothes.
