Frostclaw Pack
Eridms' POV
I rested my arms on the stone railing of the terrace, staring at the endless frozen lake before me.
Everything in Frostclaw was covered in snow and ice.
At first, I hated it.
But after living here for so many years, I had grown strangely attached to its beauty.
The cold wind brushed against my face as a smile slowly appeared on my lips.
"I'm finally eighteen..."
The Age of Luna.
The age every young wolf dreamed of reaching.
Tomorrow...
I would finally leave this place.
Tomorrow...
I would return to Moonfang.
The home I had imagined countless times in my dreams.
The sound of footsteps pulled me away from my thoughts.
"Happy birthday, Young Prince."
I turned around.
Jole stood behind me with a warm smile, holding a long wooden box in both hands.
"Thank you, Jole."
He handed it to me.
"Open it."
Curiosity filled my eyes as I slowly lifted the lid.
Inside lay a beautiful sword.
Its silver blade reflected the morning sunlight.
A crescent moon was engraved near the hilt, while tiny ancient symbols ran along the length of the blade.
I slowly drew it from its sheath.
Shiiing...
The blade gleamed brilliantly.
"It's beautiful..." I whispered.
"It was forged by Moonfang's finest blacksmith."
I looked at him in surprise.
"The High Alpha ordered me to give it to you on your eighteenth birthday."
The smile on my face slowly disappeared.
"If he truly cared..."
"He would've come to see me."
"Not even once."
Jole's expression darkened.
"Young Prince..."
"He didn't exile you because he hated you."
I laughed bitterly.
"Then why?"
"Why did he send away his own son?"
"Why did he never visit?"
"Why did he never write?"
"I buried my mother without even knowing her..."
"And I grew up without a father."
The words escaped before I could stop them.
Silence settled between us.
Jole looked as though he wanted to say something.
But he didn't.
Instead...
He sighed.
I looked away toward the frozen lake.
"Then tell me about Moonfang."
A gentle smile returned to Jole's face.
"It isn't like Frostclaw."
"The forests stretch farther than the eye can see."
"The rivers shine beneath the moon."
"The markets are always alive."
"The food..."
He laughed.
"You'll probably eat enough for three wolves."
I chuckled.
"And the people?"
"They're loud."
"They argue."
"They celebrate every festival as though it were their last."
He looked at me with a smile.
"It's home."
For a moment...
I closed my eyes.
I could almost picture it.
Moonfang.
Maybe...
Just maybe...
There was still a place waiting for me there.
............
Not long after Jole left, I sensed two familiar auras approaching.
A smile found its way onto my face.
Only two people would come looking for me at this hour.
Jimmy and Jean.
"Happy birthday!"
The two of them said at the same time before bursting into laughter.
I couldn't help but laugh with them.
"Thank you."
Jimmy walked over and threw an arm around my shoulder.
"So..."
"The little outsider is finally leaving us."
"I was never little," I replied.
"You still lost to me three days ago."
"That was one time."
"One time was enough."
We both laughed.
Jean stood quietly beside us, holding something behind her back.
She looked unusually nervous.
Jimmy noticed before I did.
"Go on," he whispered to her.
She took a deep breath before stepping toward me.
"I... I got you something."
She held out a small wooden box.
I accepted it carefully.
"May I?"
She nodded.
Inside was a beautiful silver bracelet.
Tiny blue crystals were carved into the shape of snowflakes, and at the center rested a small icy gem that glowed faintly.
"It's beautiful."
A bright smile spread across her face.
"I'm glad you like it."
Jimmy folded his arms proudly.
"It isn't just a bracelet."
"It contains a piece of Frostclaw's ancient ice blessing."
I looked up in surprise.
"What does it do?"
Jimmy smiled.
"You've always struggled to use Frostclaw's ice techniques because you weren't born here."
"That bracelet will make controlling frost much easier."
I gently ran my fingers across it before fastening it around my wrist.
"Thank you."
"I'll treasure it."
Jean looked relieved.
"I was afraid you'd refuse it."
"I'd never refuse a gift from a friend."
For some reason...
Her smile faded.
Friend...
Jimmy quietly sighed.
"I'll... leave you two alone for a moment."
Before I could ask what he meant, he had already walked several steps away.
The terrace suddenly became quiet.
Only the sound of the cold wind remained.
Jean lowered her head.
"Eridms..."
"Tomorrow you'll leave."
"Yes."
"You'll probably never come back."
"I don't know."
She smiled sadly.
"I always knew this day would come."
I looked at her, confused.
"Then why do you look like you're about to cry?"
She laughed softly.
"Because..."
"I'm going to miss you."
Before I could answer...
She suddenly stepped forward and wrapped her arms around me.
I froze.
"I know..."
"You don't feel the same way."
"And I'm not asking you to."
Her voice trembled.
"I just didn't want you to leave without knowing."
Slowly...
She pulled away.
For a brief moment, our eyes met.
Then she stood on her toes and gently kissed my cheek.I was left confused because I don't even know what was happening.
"I hope..."
"You find the happiness you've been searching for."
My mind went completely blank.
Before I could say a single word, she turned and hurried away, wiping the tears from her face.
Jimmy looked at me, shook his head, and laughed.
"You really are hopeless."
He patted my shoulder.
"Take care of yourself."
"And if anyone gives you trouble in Moonfang..."
He pointed at the bracelet.
"You know where to find us."
I smiled.
"I'll never forget either of you."
Jimmy nodded before following his sister back toward the palace.
I stood alone on the terrace.
My fingers slowly touched the bracelet around my wrist.
For the first time...
Leaving Frostclaw didn't feel as easy as I thought it would because I am starting to feel more addicted to them.
.........
I stood there for a long time after Jimmy and Jean disappeared into the palace.
A strange warmth still lingered on my cheek.
"...That girl."
I smiled to myself.
Then...
Something felt wrong.
A sharp pain shot through my chest.
"Huh?"
I grabbed my shirt tightly.
Another pain.
This one was worse.
It felt as though something inside me was clawing its way out.
I staggered backward.
"My... body..."
The bracelet on my wrist suddenly glowed with a faint blue light.
Cold air gathered around me.
The ground beneath my feet slowly froze.
Crack...
Crack...
Crack...
Ice spread across the terrace in every direction.
My breathing became heavier.
"Jole..."
I whispered.
The pain became unbearable.
It felt as though every bone in my body was breaking apart before being forced back together.
I fell to my knees.
"Aaargh!"
My scream echoed throughout the Frostclaw Palace.
The sky suddenly darkened.
The cold wind grew violent.
Snow began swirling around me like a storm.
I could no longer hear anything.
Only my own heartbeat.
Boom...
Boom...
Boom...
My vision blurred.
Something inside me...
Was waking up.
Darkness swallowed my sight.
---
Jole's POV
The scream.
It was the Young Prince.
I dropped everything and sprinted toward the terrace.
"Young Prince!"
The moment I arrived...
I froze.
The entire terrace had become a frozen wasteland.
Ice covered every wall.
Every pillar.
Even the flowers had turned into crystal.
At the center...
Knelt Eridms.
His head was lowered.
His body trembled violently.
White fur slowly spread across the right side of his body.
Black fur covered the left.
One eye opened.
Silver.
Then...
The other.
A colour I had never seen before.
It wasn't blue.
It wasn't gold.
It wasn't red.
It was something...
Ancient.
The air itself became heavy.
My wolf whimpered.
"Run..."
"No..."
"RUN!"
For the first time in my life...
My wolf was afraid.
A deep voice echoed across the terrace.
Not from outside.
From within Eridms himself.
"...This vessel..."
Another voice answered.
"...is too fragile."
My blood ran cold.
Two voices.
Two different voices.
Coming from one body.
Impossible...
No wolf...
No legend...
No living creature should exist like this.
The prince's body suddenly convulsed.
Blood trickled from the corners of his mouth.
"No..."
"If this continues..."
"His body will collapse."
Without thinking, I extended my claws.
"Forgive me, Young Prince..."
"I have no choice."
If I could knock him unconscious...
Perhaps his body would survive.
I rushed forward.
But before my claws could reach him—
He disappeared.
"What—"
A hand seized my throat.
My feet left the ground.
His strength...
It wasn't the strength of an eighteen-year-old prince.
His silver eye looked at me without emotion.
The other eye...
Made my soul tremble.
I couldn't breathe.
He slowly lifted me higher.
Everything around us fell silent.
Then...
Darkness.

Moonfang Pack
High Luna's POV
Crash!
A priceless vase shattered against the wall.
Then another.
Then another.
The maids lowered their heads, too frightened to move.
I stood in the middle of my chambers, my chest rising and falling with anger.
"How..."
"How is that boy still alive?"
I was certain he would die before reaching adulthood.
Yet now...
He was coming back.
My fists tightened.
For what?
To steal everything my son was born to inherit?
Never.
When Castie was alive, the Alpha barely looked at the rest of us.
His eyes followed only her.
His smile belonged only to her.
His heart...
Was hers.
If that boy returned, would the Alpha see Castie every time he looked at him?
Would all those old feelings return?
"No..."
"I won't allow it."
I turned toward one of my maids.
"Bring the Second Luna to me."
"At once, Your High Luna."
A few moments later, the Second Luna entered my chambers.
She bowed politely.
"Greetings, Your High Luna."
"Sit."
She obeyed.
I studied her for a moment before speaking.
"You've heard the news."
"The prince is returning."
She nodded calmly.
"I've heard."
"And?"
She shrugged.
"It changes nothing."
I frowned.
"We already got rid of his mother."
"I don't see why we should concern ourselves with the son."
My fingers tightened around the armrest.
This woman...
She never understood ambition.
She cared only about whether the Alpha visited her chambers.
Power meant nothing to her.
She was blind.
I leaned forward.
"When the Alpha sees Eridms..."
"He'll remember Castie."
"Can you bear that?"
To my surprise...
She smiled.
"My greatest rival is already dead."
"That is enough for me."
"As for her son..."
"I don't care."
She stood to leave.
Without thinking...
I made a mistake.
"Or perhaps..."
"You don't want the Alpha discovering that you helped murder Castie."
Silence.
She slowly turned around.
Then...
She laughed.
Why...
Why is she laughing?
She walked closer until she stood directly before me.
"So..."
"That's a threat."
Her smile never faded.
"I have nothing left to lose."
"If you tell the Alpha the truth..."
"Then tell him everything."
Her eyes locked onto mine.
"Tell him we planned it together."
My heartbeat quickened.
She continued.
"My son has never cared about becoming the next Alpha."
"And neither have I."
"But your precious Misha..."
Her smile widened.
"If the truth comes out..."
"He'll lose everything."
The room fell silent.
For the first time...
I regretted opening my mouth.
She had seen straight through me.
She turned toward the door.
"Since you've run out of threats..."
"I'll take my leave."
The door closed behind her.
Bang!
I slammed my fist onto the table.
"Damn you..."
I gritted my teeth.
She's the only one with influence over the Shadow Wolves.
Without her...
My plans become much more difficult.
No...
There has to be another way.
Eridms...
You survived once.
But I won't allow you to take my son's future.
