Rowan I thought about Elizabeth. About the way she still flinched if I moved too fast. I thought about the way she watched everything, like she was waiting for something to hurt her. But I also thought about the spark in her eyes. The way she held her ground. The little tidbits of strength I knew she kept hidden, even if she didn't know it was even there. "With time,' I said. I watched his face for any flicker of emotion. "And consistency. I'm still working on earning her trust myself. I think she's the best of us all." Cade nodded once, taking in and processing everything I said and everything I didnt. We both stood in the hallway in a comfortable silence. "Training," I added after a moment. "We'll start there.
