Chapter Three

1082 Words
Jessica's pov.   Answering the call, hoping it was Joy asking me which color I would prefer for the new fabric design, I didn’t expect my mother’s voice, telling me of going to the Anderson’s office at 12, also to cancel any appointment or meeting I have for the rest of the day as we will be gone for a while, and ended the call without waiting for my response. It had been almost a month since my mother had mentioned about my so-called marriage. I was so engrossed in work that I had forgotten all about it and neither my mother had mentioned it, but I’m sure more than I, she was bothered by the fact that we could not meet my so-called fiancé. I became very hyper and restless when I checked the clock and saw it was already 10:30, which means I have only an hour to finish up all I had to do, then the rest 30 minutes for the journey to the Anderson’s company. I increased my working pace until I was disturbed by Joy informing me of my mother waiting downstairs. I grabbed my little purse and phone and walked to the elevator as fast as I could not to keep my mother waiting. I quickly entered my mother’s car and we zoomed off. I looked at my mother and was shocked to see her in her native attire for the first time ever, then she caught my eyes and also noticed my outfit, then her face became gloomy suddenly asking me what I was wearing in a harsh tone, because I was putting on a baggy jeans trouser with a body hug top and no makeup which made me look all good and natural, but she was disgusted by it all. Ignoring her, I sat comfortably on the leather seat as I sat in her Audi after ages. Reaching the company, I walked to my mother’s side and we both entered the 35-story building. Busy people walked in all directions with sleek phones and tabs in their hands. Women were dressed with branded pants and silk shirts, and men were dressed classy and decent. No wonder my father looked down at me. I greeted the receptionist, then followed my mother into a golden elevator as we were led up to the 35th floor. We walked out to a well-lit lobby which had a cozy looking lounge area and another pretty lady who was his secretary sitting in the corner of the wide room attended to us as we told her of our appointment with Mr. Anderson, then she took our names and went to inform the boss of our arrival. The secretary came back a bit flustered and asked us to go in immediately without further information. We strode towards the glass door as a skimpy red dressed, tall model sauntered with clicking heels from the same direction with lipstick smeared and a messed hair. I raised my eyebrow as I caught the woman’s eye but instead of being embarrassed, the woman smirked and left. Leaving my face blank, we entered the glass room where I saw a very tall man, with his muscular back facing us busy fixing his buttons. The first time I meet my fiancé and he’s busy with s****l activities, what a wonderful way of welcoming his future wife. I moved my eyes to look at my mother’s reaction but her face like mine, was blank, which made me wonder what was going through her mind. Finally, the muscular man turned around to greet us with a clenched jaw and his long fingers busy closing the cufflinks of his tailored Armani blue shirt. He was gorgeous with words inadequate to describe him. His features were sharp and straight and his chest broad with a slim waist and thighs, muscular and thick. My mother greeted him as she shook hands with him and his golden eyes turned to me, I just nodded my head somehow too stunned to talk to such a good-looking creature. As tempted as I was, there was no way I was going to touch his hands. Heaven knows what he had not touched and I was disgusted by him. But as he continued studying me with those intense golden eyes of his, I could not help but feel the power and dangerous aura he was radiating, spreading through my body like burning fire. Looking at me directly, he asked us to sit. Sitting on the white couches, I marveled at the large book wall on the side. It had well covered books which shone in the afternoon light. I should think you were not told we will be coming today, my mother said to Alex sarcastically looking at him, but he said he was informed smirking at my mother, also telling her he is usually a times busy during his lunch, which made my hatred for him to increase. I see you are well aquainted with Regina Smollet, said my mother referring to the model we met at the entrance with the smirk., which got my attention as I heard her name as I have heard of her before. Regina Smollet was the dirtiest woman ever in the business world. She flattered every man to get what she wanted and no one could resist her charms. She was very pretty and it looks like my fiancé has more than a friendly relationship with her. She was a successful slut in my opinion but for my mother who always compared me to her, she was the perfect child. Rolling my eyes to how foolish men were, I heard Alex’s voice as he said we should continue with the finality of the papers as it was the main reason why we were at his office, proud arrogant bastard. He handed me a file and asked me to read it. Quickly skimming through it and reading every point super-fast, I made sure to count how long the file was as well, 7 pages in total. Business men were very sneaky, they took signatures from you regarding something different and after a while, they added a clause and claim that you agreed to it. Looking at me again, he asked if I was ok with everything which I gave a slight nod for confirmation, then pulled out my pen and signed 4 years of my life to the arrogant man in front of me. All I wish for is to be able to pull through till the end without getting destroyed or dying.
