Jessica's prov.
Sitting in the car all comfortable with how soft and plush it was, I sank into the seat with the seatbelt around me, am sure this car must have cost him a a lot but it’s just a status show off, to have the best of all.
I place my red clutch matching with my shoes by my side, waiting for Alex to get into the car after he closed my door. I waited for what seems like forever before he finally got into the car with his phone on his ears speaking yet another foreign language which I think may be Greek, so fluently in that deep low voice of his. He sounded so deadly and fierce, I actually felt sorry for the person who he was talking to. After barking a few more orders, he cut the phone and started the car without glancing at my side.
I couldn’t help but notice the stiffness of him, his left grip on the steering wheel was wp tight his knuckled were turning pink and shite and the right hand was fisted, making me notice how big and wide his hands were. I was so busy admiring his muscular thighs and hands that I hadn’t realized we reached. The car came to a sudden stop which I was not prepared for and I bounced off with my hands flying, one to hold the window and the other, his fisted hand. Thank goodness I had my seat belt on or else I’m sire I’d have the perfect bump on my forehead.
Coming back to my senses from my little incident, I heard his voice which made me to look at him seeing that signature smirk of his on his red lips saying I could just tell him if I wanted to held his hand so badly, which made me realize my hand was on his and I withdrew immediately making it look like I was burned and disgusted.
Turning away from his mocking goldens, I turned to look in front of me, s**t the was paprazzi swarming everywhere like annoying bees looking for where to cast their cob. I was dreading passing through them, especially with the arrogant man sitting beside me. I suddenly felt sick to my stomach, why did I have to with him? I’m sure I was going to look like the many other gals who hang from his arm as he’ll pose confidently with his nose held high acting all bossy.
Just as the picture was becoming clearer in my head, Alex drove the car and turned around. What is he doing, what’s wrong with him? I furrowed my eyebrows as I looked at him questioning his actions, I hate gossipers he said as we reached the back entrance.
He parked and before he could come open my door, I opened it and got out. No need for him to act all chivalrous when he was anything but, and as it is, there was no one here.
Clutching my purse to my side, I strolled as fast as I could in my heels to get as fast as I could. I was in a hurry to get away from him, I didn’t even realize when he silently came behind me wrapped his muscular hand around my waist spreading the goosebumps down my body. His lips found my ear once again, walk slow “meinem Herzen”, he gritted lowly, pulling my body closer to his and he continued talking in the foreign language, “ich sterbe hier” he spoke so fast making me confused on what he was saying. Or, was he insulting me or what?
He moved closer to my back, tightening his hand on me and if it wasn’t for hiss phone ringing, I don’t know what else he’d do. I was relieved that his phone rang. I pushed his hands away and entered the kitchen area. The smell of all the foods hit my nose, making me cringe, it was too much to inhale at once. Blocking my nose with two fingers, I quickly walked out and headed to the hall. It was already almost half past 7. I am sure my mum would have my neck for coming so late.
Trying to avoid my mother’s gaze, I had to match my steps with that of a waitress. Her glass clad eyes were narrowed and she kept lifting her wrist watch to check the time. I could see the smoke coming out of her ears from her rage and anger towards me.
I quickly grabbed a glass of apple juice and chugged down half to make it look like I had come earlier. I didn’t want to add more fuel to the blazing fire. I straightened up, fixed the creases from my dress and approached my mother from behind.
I called her name as I lifted my half empty glass to my mouth, hopefully she fell for the lie.
I really like your punctuality Jessica she spoke sarcastically, and how old are you to be drinking apple juice I bit my tongue from responding to her. My mother’s negativity can never end.
I lowered my glass and faced more people as they came. Soft melodies played in the background, fresh bright and elegant flowers of different colors were used to brighten the room. Women dressed in all types of designer clothing moved sexily with jewels shining on their necks, rings on their thin fingers, and men walked proudly in Armani’s, Gucci’s, and Ralph Lauren’s suits and ties.
A blur of bright brown ran up to me and engulfed me in a tight hug from behind. If it wasn’t for the familiar extensive use of the Hugo boss scent, I would have never recognized my father.
O Jess, you look gorgeous he said smiling from ear to ear holding me in warmly. Warning bells blared loudly in my ears. My parent never complimented me and I mean it.
Why lying Desmond? My mother said harshly before I could even say anything, she looks like a cheap, low budgeted person dressed in this frumpy dress of hers she said rudely before she walked away from my father and I.
I raised an eyebrow and turned to look at my father who squirmed embarrassingly in front of me before he even scurried of after my mother. I shrugged my shoulder, their opinion didn’t matter to me, as it is every mans thoughts differs from another.
I continued drinking from my glass before I settled on the seat assigned for me. While everyone was happy and having fun, I was bored to death as this is not my kind of thing. All I kept thinking about was all the work piling up and waiting for me, so I kept thinking if at least I could use my phone to read some emails and reply to them, but it will look rude and stupid of me to do that in such a gathering organized by my company. After I finished drinking from my glass, I became more bored and also didn’t have the intention of talking to anyone especially business associates to start faking smiles, giving fake compliments especially to their wives and all, so I had no choice than to do the best thing that came to my mind to be able to escape all this, which is to excuse myself and go to the bathroom. I thought I could escape from everyone for a little while, but as soon as I got into the bathroom, I regretted ever taking that as an option.
Two ladies were in the bathroom trying to coat their lips with more red lipsticks and talking of how to get laid for the night. With their conversation on the men and their description, I immediately knew who they were actually talking about. Who else if not the arrogant arse man of my fiancé?
I winced as I tried to remember who there were but couldn’t remember, so I walked out of the bathroom and headed to my seat. The starters were being served and I was already starving because I hadn’t had any good food all through the day as I was so busy. I thanked the waiter and placed a napkin on my lap as I was being served, as just as I was going to put the crispy chicken in my mouth, my hand was grabbed by none other than Alex. I even forgot about him being in the party.
I asked what the problem was angrily because my stomach was rumbling.
Why are you sitting here? He asked still holding my left wrist, I rolled my eyes as I told him it was my seat.
You are not sitting here, you’ll sit with me he said before pulling me out of my chair, making me drop my chicken on the table as he dragged me towards his table.
I spoke through clenched teeth and told him to leave my hand because no one dares to separate me from my food. I twisted my hand trying to make him let go but the arse wasn’t letting me go.
I tried all my possible best to set myself free from his grip, but the more I tried, the more the clenched his hand tight around my skin till it began to hurt from his hand squeezing my skin and his fingers digging into them. I got angry that I pinched his bicep if that would help give him pain to make him release me, but it didn’t affect him at all or should I say he didn’t even feel it because it all seemed toned up.
I pressed my weight to the ground to get him to stop moving but he only stopped when he got to his table. The table which consisted of my parent and other people who I didn’t even know. My mother raised an eyebrow at me wordlessly asking me what I was doing on their table.
I have never for once ever before sat with my family in parties. My mother hadn’t told anyone before of the fact that I was their daughter, I was just Co-owner, that’s it. I wasn’t meant to sit with them. I was shocked when she even told Andersons, no one except my secretary knew and that also she had to sign a document stating she won’t tell anyone.
Mum, Dad, this is Jessica Wilson, Alex voice broke the staring contest between my mother and I. I turned to look at who he addressed, I saw a pretty lady who sat in front of me grinning with her white teeth shinning, cheeks glowing and golden eyes twinkling. This woman definitely knows how to care for her body.
I said a quick greeting to her and I turned to see a carbon older copy of Alex but with a brown eye. He sat with a gigantic friendly smile on his face and when I nodded in his direction, it just got bigger. How on planet earth is the arrogant arse even the product of such amazing people?
I clenched my teeth as I thought how I’d have to eat dinner with proper etiquettes and perfectness in front of my parent. I quickly tried to eat dinner without sparing glance at anyone on the table as they all made small talk among themselves. I was in no mood to talk with anyone on anything at all. Especially when they were talking about something as stupid as weather.
I kept filling my mouth with food so no one could talk to me but obviously, Alex’s mother had to be an exception.
She looked at me and Alex expectantly and asked how we met with so much amazement and adoration making it seem like we meeting was a miracle or something, which it actually was because if not for the business or so, I would never have glanced at his side, not even for a second.
I looked at him and raised an eyebrow in his direction, what a shock that his mother was not aware of this whole arrangement thing. Alex gave me one of those his signature smirk and told his mum we met outside a superstore while he was out to meet a client which is fair enough, considering the fact that I do visit the store often since I cook for myself and also get other stuffs for myself, so I just kept mute waiting for him to finish his cooked up story.
She had a lot on her hand, struggling to carry them all by herself and the funny part was that she came without a car and want walking with so much load through a long distance to her house, but as a gentle man that I am taught by you mum, I walked up to her and offer to help, and was rejected without even a glance. He said laughing making the story seem all through which also made me laugh along with how perfect the arse could tell a false story without even blinking or flinching.
How typical of him to make me a damsel in distress, desperate and needy, and make himself look generous and great.
I always knew my Alex was a gentleman, said his mother with a smile on her face. Wow, what a perfect family I thought to myself who always believe in each other. I just couldn’t wait for this night to come to an end.
