Chapter 7, A fateful meeting

In the distance they could see Miridan city. Leaving the desert had gone a lot quicker than finding the library, about half the duration, because this time they new where to go. As they reached a fork in the road Karlek stopped. "It's not safe for me to continue towards Miridan. Ton Veru is near, and so is another Divine that has not yet been cursed. Something tells me that he has stopped playing with us divines, and aims to kill us now. Sorry, but I cannot risk this." As Nova and Kami looked at her with confusion in their eyes, she whistled and a blindingly white horse came from over a nearby hill. Karlek got on the horse and turned it away from Miridan. On rare occasions Divines would get visions about the future, or dangers near them. Nova grabbed Karlek's dress to hold her from leaving for a moment. "Will we see you again if we need your help?" she asked. Karlek nodded, and left.  Kami and Nova continued towards Miridan. They didn't talk much on the way there, because they were both thinking about what Karlek said.  "If Ton Veru is really here, then this is our chance to stop him, before he curses another Divine." Kami stated.  Nova dissagreed. "We need to warn the Divine before it's too late. We aren't strong enough to stop someone like him!"  Kami could see she had a point. They entered the city and started looking around for clues to where the Divine might be. First they rented a room in an inn, so they could rest and eat for an hour before they started searching. While Kami was napping and Nova was reading her spellbook, someone knocked on the door. Kami woke up by it and opened the door, to see, his mother, Mel, the Demi-goddes of peace and Karlek's daughter.  Kami didn't say anything, but Nova quickly rose from her chair and greeted her.  "Hello miss Steelfeather, or wait, Mel is a higher title than miss Steelfeather I think... Uhm... Hi?" Nova said nervously.  "Why are you this shy around my mom even though you've defeated Uireb in a fight, and shared a body with Karlek?" Kami laughed.  "I, uhh, have always admired Mel.. Legend has it she is the person giving heros their quests, so when I saw her I got a little nervous." Nova explained.  "You don't have to be nervous, you already have a quest to save the divines and stop Ton Veru right? There is no more I can add to that. Also, I'm just Mel, not Mel Steelfeather, It's Kamiron's fathers name. I'd share his name, but he is no longer alive, so I have to move on from the Steelfeather name to stay professional. Kamiron will always be my precious son though!" Mel said with a tear in her eyes, and a big smile.  Kami looked at her strictly. He didn't like when his mom acted this sweet to him. That was just the way Mel was though, which wasn't surprising from the daughter of the goddes of love, and sister of the god of romance and fertility.  Nova remembered why she was in Miridan. "Mel! You're in danger, Ton Veru-" Nova started.  "Is here in Miridan, and wants to kill, or curse me. I'm aware my dear." Mel interrupted her.  "Then why are you here? Have you lost your mind?!" Kami said frustrated.  "I am here because fate brought you here. To fulfill your quest you need to first have a good plan. I'm here to give you some information to do that with. M. is currently in the Land of Dragons, and is taking life from the air and earth around him to live forever, without reincarnation. Kurime is preparing an attack on Ciradil, the Elven kingdom, from a tower near the dwarven keep Unrol-Dûm, close to Ciradil. Break their curses, and Elune her curse as well, and the four incarnations together might be able to stop Ton Veru." Nova had quickly written down the info Mel gave them. Elune was the incarnation of nature.  Mel's expression got serious. "He is near. We must leave." She said.  There was no need to explain. Within a minute Kami and Nova had packed their stuff and left the inn with Mel. They ran to the gate and out of the city safely, but once on the main road, a beam of light shot through Mel's chest and she fell. A man with white hair appeared behind her.  Kami and Nova had sold their camel for gold, so they didn't have a quick way of escaping.  "Trust in Upendo, demi-god of romance and fertility, but beware of Luvat, demi-god of war!" Mel said as she focused her last energy to teleport Nova and Kami as far north as she could. Kami and Nova saw a bright flash, after which had ended they were much further up north, about halfway to where they needed to go.  Teleportation magic was the magic used to move an object and incredibly accelerated speed, at the cost of aging at an accelerated speed. For a mortal that meant that it was very dangerous to use, as it used up your life years. For Divines it was less dangerous. They could teleport much further with less risk. Instead of using up their life essence, they used up their divine essence, which would slowly regenerate, but mean they couldn't reincarnate for a number of hours, or even days. During that time they would be mortal. Nova stood in shock as Kami's eyes filled with tears. But his facial expression did not change. He wasn't smiling like usual. He wasn't crying or weeping. His face was filled with more anger than Nova had ever seen.  As Kami turned north and started walking he pulled Nova along, and said just 3 words for hours.  "He will pay."
