The energy on the bus to our first meet was electric. The kids were ready, Jana and I were ready. It was going to be an amazing night. Absolutely kick a*s.
The meet was at a school an hour north of us, so the bus ride was long, but the kids kept their moods high with music and talking. Once we arrived, they got serious.
Andrew was the last off the bus, as always. When he stepped off, like the others, he had his game face on. He was ready to smoke the competition.
Jana led the team to the wide open space where all the teams set up. We had a pop-up tent with our school name on it as a home base for the athletes. Jana and I worked with two of the taller kids to get the tent up so everyone could set their stuff down and start their warmup.
