"That's enough, you two. Don't forget that we have guests," Mr Verman said, talking to his sons.
Ben kept his glare on Jay, until he directed them at me, letting out a smirk.
I felt uncomfortable seeing the way he smirked at me.
"Have fun, sweet cheeks, " He said, winking at me.
I lifted my brow, finding that inappropriate.
Ben walked away to resume with whatever he was doing, while Jay held my hand, walking forward into the party.
"Don't mind what he said. That moron will never change," Jay said, taking me towards a well decorated table, filled with drinks.
"Whatever he does, just ignore him. Trouble is his middle name."
"Trouble?" I asked, directing my eyes to where Ben stood.
I met him talking to a group of ladies, holding one by the waist. But his eyes came my way.
When I saw this, I took my attention away from him quickly.
"I didn't know that the billionaire, Jay Verman, has an issue with his family," I said, almost chucking.
But the way Jay dimmed his eyes at me, got me swallowing it back.
"Just do as I say. If he comes anywhere around you, asking any stupid question, don't give him an answer. My stepbrother has no good intentions for me, so you have to stay clear of him." He directed his gaze at Ben, who immediately looked away.
So Ben Verman is Jay's stepbrother?
With the little I've seen, I'm curious to know why both brothers are going at each other.
And why did Ben ask me that question, if Jay had paid me to be his girlfriend?
I want to ask Jay, but seeing his mood, I don't think it's best to talk about it.
"It's better I stay quiet and do as he says."
A few minutes after my arrival, there's a sudden silence that came around.
Standing with Jay, I looked and noticed everyone's attention on the entrance. When I looked, I saw a very beautiful lady in a silver dress, stepping into the party, with her hair flowing beautifully.
"I've seen her before, but I can't put my finger on it."
I saw how everyone stared at her like she's a goddess. She must be a very important guest.
Suddenly, I see this beauty approaching Jay and I. Her head lifted elegantly, as she cat walked towards us, swaying her hips.
"Well if it isn't Jay Verman. Never thought you'll be here at the party," She said, extending her hand at Jay.
Jay takes her hand, saying, "Nice to see you Bella." He kisses her hand.
Hearing the name, I immediately remembered where I've heard her name before. She's Bella Reigns, a model.
Sonia always has a magazine with her on the front page.
I must say, she's more beautiful in person than in pictures.
"Who's this? " Bella asked, looking at me.
I was about introducing myself when Jay pulled me closer by the waist, causing my entire body to shiver.
"This is Ann, my girlfriend," He introduced.
"Girlfriend?" Bella's eyes widened at me.
"You're joking, right?" She asked, directing her eyes on me.
What's up with everyone and me being Jay's girlfriend?
Jay doesn't answer her question, but pulls me by the waist, caressing me down to my hip.
Why is he doing that?
"This is... Nice! Finally I get to see your girlfriend," Bella said, smiling.
She extends her hand at me for a hand shake, which I took.
"Nice to finally meet you, Ann. I've heard a lot about you from Jay. You must be a precious gem to have captured a man like him, " she said, navigating her gaze on Jay.
"Umm thank you? " I drew my hand away from her, feeling weird.
What is wrong with everyone?
"Please excuse us," Jay said, taking hold of my hand, walking away.
Once we were away from Bella's point, I asked, " Who's that?"
"That's Bella Reign. She's a model."
"No, not that. I mean, who is she to you?" I asked.
Jay levitates his brow at my question, giving a creepy stare.
"Why asking?"
"I... It's just that I..."
"Your job here is to act as my girlfriend in front of my family and not to ask me questions that doesn't concern you. Understood? "
His eyes came darting at me intensely.
My body quivered on seeing this. I lowered my head down, apologizing to him for asking.
I should have just stayed shut.
Jay took me back to the party, leaving me soon to attend to his father's call.
I was left by the table alone, when someone suddenly took hold of my hand from behind.
When I turned to look, I found Ben next to me.
What does he want?
"So, where do you come from, sweet cheeks? " He asked, caressing my hand.
I remembered what Jay said about talking to Ben. I had to take his words into action.
I acted like I didn't hear what Ben said, trying to ignore him. But he just won't budge.
"Did that loser tell you to avoid me?" He laughed, turning me over to face him.
What is wrong with him?
"Stop playing hard to get. I know your type. How much did he pay you?"
"Is something wrong with you?" I sparked, pushing Ben aside.
My action got guests looking at both of us, including Jay, who drew away from his father on seeing the scene.
With eyes on me, I decided to act as Jay's girlfriend indeed, putting Ben in his place.
"I am Jay Verman's girlfriend. Don't take me for those girls you've been touching and kissing at the corner. I belong to one person, and that's Jay, " I boldly said.
Ben glared at me on seeing how everyone stared at him, thinking he came to flirt with me, which he did.
"You heard her, " Jay's voice came in, followed by his arms falling on me.
"Don't try wooing my girl over. She's mine, " Jay said.
With anger, Ben walked away.
I followed his movement, only to see Bella staring at me coldly.
I acted like I didn't see her.
Jay took hold of my hand, taking me into one of the rooms in the mansion.
"Look Jay, he was the one who walked up to me. I had to say something because he wouldn't let me go. I..."
"Hush."
His finger fell on my lips, silencing me from speaking any further.
I stared into his eyes and saw how they twinkled at me with delight.
"I was beginning to ask myself where that wild side of yours disappeared to, " He said, almost in a whisper, caressing my lips.
"What you did out there was marvelous, " He commented, letting out a curve to the side of his lips.
The way he touched my lips, caressing my arm, left my heart racing.
He thinks I'm some kind of badass, but he doesn't know that It was the alcohol I took that day that brought out that wild side.
"You know that I was under the influence of alcohol that day? I'm not a..."
Before I could explain fully, Jay's lips came down on mine, kissing me.
I moaned on feeling his hands trailing my body, pushing me against the wall.
He says my job is to play the role of his girlfriend before his family. Is this a part of it?
