SOPHIE Everything was going well. Kyle was about to take that annoying sister of mine away, but she dared to escape. Miss Perfect, Miss intelligent. Ann has always been the bright one in people's eyes, and me? I am more like the dullard in their eyes. I still remember when we were in high school and how she won that spelling bee competition against me. She just couldn't stop flaunting her certificate around the house. But with Mom and Dad on my side, I made sure she never showed it ever again. Dad burnt her spelling bee certificate and I felt pleased. But that wasn't enough to please me. As long as Ann is the precious gem in everyone's eyes, I won't be at peace. I made sure I got all the things she ever wanted, so she'll know her place in this house. But No, she always had a way of annoying me. When I saw her letter to be a model in Italy, my anger grew that I couldn't stand it any more. Why are good things always coming her way? Why does the better things have to locate her? It pleased me when Dad tore the letter up. At least she can't go there without that as her proof. When she ran away like a coward, I had made so many plans to mess up her room, but when Kyle showed up to see my father over the money he's owing, an idea came to mind. It was I who told my father to sell Ann to Kyle and make some money from it. In that way, he can also pay him back, that's if Kyle will still think about the money after hearing father's offer. And just as I pictured it, Kyle found father's idea amusing. His tongue trailing his lips, as he nodded his head at father's words. He would have had her finally, if that coward hadn't escaped! Now my family is in trouble. Kyle sent two of his men to pass a warning to us, concerning Ann's disappearance. He didn't get her! "The boss is badly injured because of that daughter of yours! " The first shared, showing his anger. "You knew she had a connection with a dangerous man, yet you tricked our boss into buying her! " The second roared, pushing my father towards the wall. "Father! " "Please don't hurt my husband!" Mom begged, standing in their way, protecting father. I had to go and hold my Dad close to protect him as well. "Kyle has given you a week to find her. If he doesn't see her at the end of the week, you'd be sorry you ever crossed paths with him, " They warned, leaving the house. Fear took over my home. I watched how father sat on the floor, holding his head in a panic. "That foolish girl has ruined me! How dare that girl run away from us? We had everything planned out well! " Father groaned. "How will I pay Kyle back his money? We can't give him the money he gave us, we need it to survive. Ann was supposed to cover up all my debts." "I'm sure that girl is hiding with that hooligan of a friend she calls Sonia. Who else will gather someone to attack Kyle, if not her? " Mom accused Sonia. "You're right. I bet Sonia is hiding her somewhere. I know where she stays. Let me go and find out, " I volunteered. My parents were too worried to answer me. Mom just waved at me, giving me the go ahead. So, I didn't hesitate to leave the house for Sonia's. "I'll find her no matter where Sonia hides her. She must follow Kyle or face our wrath." I walked fast, increasing my pace. I soon arrived at Sonia's apartment, which was located on the third floor of the building she's on. Standing at her door, I knocked on it with a loud bang, getting that hooligan barging out. "What the hell are you looking for, Sophie?" She questioned. But I have no time to chit chat. I pushed Sonia aside, barging into her apartment, looking for Ann. "Are you mad?!" "Where are you hiding that sister of mine? Where is Ann? " I demanded. "Ann? What did you monsters do to my friend?" Sonia questioned, grabbing me by the shirt. "Stop acting like you don't know. You sent some goons to take her away. You better bring her out or..." SLAM! I felt my cheek sounding with heat. Sonia had slapped me. "I don't know what you are talking about, but it's best you leave before I hurt you." She dragged me, throwing me outside of her apartment. I staggered, almost falling to the ground. But I quickly maintained my stance, turning back to yell at that thug, but her door was shut. "She has Ann but doesn't want to talk. I'll fish out the truth whether she likes it or not." . After that day, I took it upon myself to find Ann. I kept my eyes on Sonia and all her movements, following her to wherever she went. But none of the places she went to had a trace of Ann. It's like Sonia doesn't even know where she is. "So I've been wasting my time on her? This is frustrating!" I felt so annoyed. How are we going to get out of this mess? "I'm the one who brought up the idea of selling Ann to Kyle, and now that same plan has backfired on us. It's up to me to solve this, but how?" On getting home, I found father tuning the TV, while Mom sat in one corner, looking dull. My stomach grumbled and I had to move closer to Mom for food. She just sighed and told me to head to the kitchen. Just when I was about going... "Wait! Father tune the station back! " I ordered, running towards him. "What? " Father asked, looking at me. I immediately grabbed the remote and switched the channel back. The moment the exact station I was targeting came on, my mouth dropped. "Is that Ann?" Father asked, moving closer to the screen. It's Ann indeed. She wore a red dress, standing beside a wealthy man in suit. Wait, isn't that Jay Verman, the billionaire?
