"Dude, how do you plan on getting a wife within thirty-one days?" George, Ryan's friend, exclaimed after hearing Ryan's plight.
Ryan continued staring into space, racking his brain to find a suitable bride to fulfill his father's wish. A smile crossed his face as the perfect lady came to his mind.
"Dude, what is funny?" George eyed him suspiciously, wondering if he was still in his normal mental health.
"I found the perfect lady," Ryan smiled widely, like he had just won the lottery.
"Then let us start the planning right away," George replied excitedly, relieved that the puzzle had been solved.
Ryan reclined back into his chair, remembering how he had embarrassed her and the rude words he said to her when she came for the job interview.
"What is wrong?" George asked when he saw the worried look on Ryan's face.
"She may not consider my request," Ryan replied, thick lines appearing on his forehead, showing he was deep in thought.
"Charlotte will surely consider your request," George stared at him in confusion, wondering who else he had in mind.
Charlotte is Ryan's secretary, who had been trying so hard to get his attention.
Ryan hissed loudly, scoffing in disgust when he remembered her cheap tricks of seduction.
"So who do you have in mind?" George asked, getting more confused about the whole drama.
Ryan released a long breath and then narrated the whole episode to George, who laughed out loud when he heard how Vanessa insulted Ryan, even after losing the job.
"That lady is a clown," George laughed so hard he could feel tears in his eyes.
"Birds of the same feather," Ryan rolled his eyes, feeling mocked by George's laughter.
"Do you have her phone number?" George asked immediately after he stopped laughing.
"Yes, it should be in the document," Ryan replied, eyeing his friend suspiciously.
"Don't worry, I’m not snatching your darling clown. I just want to help you," George said, trying to stop whatever Ryan was thinking. Ryan, who was desperate for help, leaned closer to hear George's plan.
"What would you like to order?" Sophie, with a smile on her face, asked the busy woman who was working on her laptop.
"One cup of iced Americano," the lady replied without a glance at Sophie.
Her mind flashed to Vanessa, who she thought would be working by now.
She was still busy preparing the coffee when she heard people whispering and laughing.
"Did a mad person enter my shop?" Sophie asked herself. She screamed in terror when she saw Vanessa coming with her hair scattered and a teary face.
"Did you cuddle a pig this morning?" Sophie asked, still in shock. Vanessa said nothing but sat down in one of the chairs.
"Baby, what the hell happened?" Sophie left the counter to sit beside Vanessa.
"I was fired this morning and also rejected for a job interview," Vanessa hiccupped, releasing another fresh set of tears.
Sophie drew Vanessa closer, stroking her hair calmly, whispering assuring words until she stopped crying.
Her stomach growled again, making Sophie chuckle.
"I brought spaghetti for lunch, care for some?" Sophie asked, heading towards the counter to bring her lunch box.
"Yes, please," Vanessa answered tiredly as she stood up from the chair, heading to the shop bathroom to wash her body from the stains.
"What are your plans now?" Sophie asked Vanessa, who seemed to be in a rush to consume the whole food.
"I will just continue my job hunt," Vanessa answered, scooping a large quantity of spaghetti into her mouth.
Vanessa's phone rang, disrupting their conversation. She rushed to pick it up and saw it was an unknown number.
She pressed the answer button and placed it to her ear immediately.
"Hello, who am I speaking with?" Vanessa mumbled, her mouth stuffed with spaghetti.
"My name is Dennison from Ryan Enterprise. We reconsidered our decision and decided to interview you again on Monday. Thank you," the call ended without waiting for Vanessa's reply.
Vanessa, with her mouth full of spaghetti, stared at the screen, not knowing what to say.
"Swallow the spaghetti in your mouth before talking," Sophie scolded Vanessa, who looked like she wanted to cry.
Vanessa forced the spaghetti down her throat and immediately started laughing.
"Sophie, I got the job!" Vanessa squealed happily, rushing to meet her best friend, who opened her mouth wide.
"Congratulations, bestie," Sophie giggled happily as they both did their funny shikira dance.
**THE NEXT DAY**
"How do I look?" Vanessa giggled, slaying in the outfits and shoes she borrowed from Sophie.
She was wearing a black pencil skirt with a white fitted shirt tucked inside, bringing out her perfect slim figure. Her feet were graced with a pair of beautiful black heels. Her tangled golden hair flowed freely, and her face glowed under the light makeup.
"Girl, you look hot," Sophie whistled, making Vanessa blush.
"All thanks to you," Vanessa pouted her lips, making Sophie chuckle.
"I wish I had your breasts," Sophie pouted, and immediately Vanessa remembered Ryan's naughty compliment.
"You should leave now and also keep the clothes and shoes. They look better on you," Sophie said as Vanessa rushed to give her a big hug and a peck on her cheek.
Vanessa rushed out of the house, careful not to fall in her long heels.
**RYAN ENTERPRISE**
"Do you think this plan will work?" Ryan asked George, who was so confident in his plan.
"Trust me, baby, she will be here in a split second," George answered, feeling like a superhero.
Ryan cringed at the sound of "baby," making weird faces at George, who burst into laughter.
"Rate my fake voice," George asked proudly, flipping his short black hair.
"It was terrible, like a lost cockroach," Ryan teased him, applying perfume to his expensive suit.
"Ingrate," George scoffed loudly, making Ryan chuckle.
"Sir, a lady is here for the secretary post," Charlotte bowed her head, making Ryan turn his head immediately.
"Bring her in," Charlotte folded her fist before walking out.
"I told ya, my plans never fail," George did a little dance before stepping out of the office.
Ryan's face broke into a smile as he heaved a sigh of relief.
A knock on the door brought him back to reality. He adjusted himself in the chair before answering.
Vanessa stepped into his office, looking graciously beautiful. His breath ceased for a moment as he refused to believe that it was the same lady he had interviewed some days ago.
"Hello, sir," Vanessa tucked her hair behind her ear shyly when she saw how Ryan drooled at her.
"Good day, young lady," Ryan replied with his deep, bossy voice.
"I received a call that another interview has been scheduled for me," Vanessa smiled, her eyes glistening with happiness.
"I never instructed anybody to do that. You must have been scammed," Ryan folded his arms, waiting for Vanessa's reaction.
Vanessa's face fell in disappointment. She had kept her hopes high about getting the job.
"I promise to be hardworking. Please give me the job," Vanessa decided to humble herself.
"Do I need to remind you how you called me dumb?" Ryan smirked, enjoying his game of teasing Vanessa.
"I knew it was a mistake coming back here," she muttered to herself, trying not to break down.
Vanessa, not wanting to embarrass herself any further, picked up her bag and started to walk out of the office.
"You have the job," Ryan said suddenly, making Vanessa stop in her tracks.
"Thank you so much!" Vanessa knelt down in appreciation, feeling so overwhelmed with happiness.
"On one condition," Ryan said, and everywhere went silent.
