The interview was a soft feature for the NHL Network’s weekly human interest segment. Seven minutes, pre-taped, lightly edited. The questions had been submitted in advance, vetted by Diane’s team, and sanitized of anything sharper than a butter knife. The angle was simple: Cole Harrington, the captain in love, opening up about the woman who had changed his world.
It was supposed to be easy. Smile. Say the scripted things. Reference the charity gala. Mention how she’d challenged him to be a better version of himself. Look into the camera with the appropriate balance of vulnerability and confidence. Seven minutes. In and out.
