Ryder POV
I wake to Jolie thrashing in her sleep as her skin glows with light that shines in waves, getting brighter with each breath.
"Jolie." I shake her gently. "Wake up."
Her eyes snap open, blazing pure silver. Not her usual pale green with silver flecks. Just silver.
"Ryder." Her voice echoes strangely. "Something's happening."
"I can see that." I help her sit up. "Does it hurt?"
"No." She stares at her hands, watching fire dance across her palms. "It feels different than before. Like the moonfire is evolving."
"Evolving into what?" I don't like the sound of that.
"I don't know." The fire flares brighter. "But I need to go outside. Now. Before I burn down our cabin."
