Several days passed in a blur of different pack meetings, paperwork, and my own forced patience.
I told myself to keep up the appearance that nothing had changed. I smiled politely when Claudia mentioned going out for another one of her shopping trips. I ignored Vera whenever she paraded through the manor wearing another expensive necklace that I had never seen before. I attended meetings, reviewed patrol reports, and continued preparing for my happy, wonderful wedding.
All the while, my newly hired accountant worked.
