Ryan and Alex have left the office to go outside. I know they have to inspect where the. Where did the rogues come from, and if they are still around? I walk outside. The night feels different now, softer somehow, though the stones of the courtyard are still stained with blood and the air still carries the heavy scent of battle. My heart beats steadily inside my chest, and yet beneath the surface I can feel something vast stirring, a current of warmth and strength that does not belong entirely to me. It beats in my veins like starlight, like the whisper of the Moon Goddess herself, and every time I close my eyes, I feel her touch, that moment when she reached into me as I crossed the boundary between life and death, and returned me with a gift that is no longer mine alone.
