Slayers

Harley - POV - {Larissa} "Reynold, can you speak up?" I said firmly, fixing him with a stern gaze. But he continued to fiddle with his keys and ignored me. "I learned some facts about Rachel," I said, and Reynold stopped on the steps leading up to his front door. His expression flickered with shock, then settled back into a poker face. Blocking his path, I confronted him directly. "What are you hiding from me?" I demanded. Reynold's eyes narrowed as if he was weighing whether or not to tell me the truth. "Reynold, please, I need to know," I pleaded, realizing my stern attitude was not getting me the information I needed. He took my arm and led me to a more secluded place, scanning the area to ensure nobody was around before fixing me with his gaze. "You know about the White Mist Pack Alpha who killed his members and his mate," I recalled from reading Tyrant Luna's book, in which Larissa later tries to find the Alpha responsible for the killings and his mate's death. Larissa is determined to help the unknown Alpha break the curse that turned him into a monster in exchange for taking refuge in the White Mist Pack, as she knows her life is in danger. But when she reached the Alpha, he was killed mysteriously. "Yeah, I heard about it, but I didn't know the name of the Alpha as they kept it confidential in the papers, I think," I said, lying because the book didn't mention the Alpha's name. "I am the Alpha of the White Mist Pack; Rachel made sure they did not display my name, as she and I had a deal," Reynold said in a melancholy tone. I looked at him, perplexed. "You are the monster, Alpha," I blurted out, and he winced. "I'm sorry, that came out wrong." "No need to apologize. You're right. I am a monster on a leash," Reynold added. "What kind of deal do you have with Rachel? I thought you were a medical professor who trained the healers," I asked concernedly. "What did you learn about Rachel?" Reynold countered with a question. "I heard from someone that Rachel killed her parents and siblings for power," I said, and he nodded grimly. Terror gripped my heart; I was working for a ruthless murderer. "I am an assassin, not a professor. I'm familiar with healing magic, but I'm impressed with how quickly you picked it up and wielded it better than I do," Reynold said as the curse surfaced, darkening his eyes. I gulped as he closed the distance. "Reynold," I protested as his finger came to my lips. My heart raced with fear, but I felt a strange sensation in my body as if Stella was attaching to Reynold's wolf. He looked dazed just as I felt his touch. "Step away from me," I said, realizing I was working for slayers. I thought I could easily survive and find good people to help me through rough times, but they had other plans for me. "Larissa, calm down," Reynold said, placing a hand on my shoulder as I realized I was panicking and finding breathing hard. I knew I had to escape from these people, but how long could I run? Alpha Ren or Abigail would catch me one day if I kept running. "What do you want from me?" I pushed Reynold away, and he staggered back with poise. "Nothing bad, Larissa. We want you to be a doctor and look after Rachel's legal business in the mystical world. You're doing the job, right?" Reynold said with sincerity in his eyes, How can I trust them when they confessed they were executioners? After all, they can kill without a thought. "Fine, I will do what you ask," I replied. Reynold approached me, and my heart began to race. What was happening to me? Stella was also confused as her connection to Reynold's wolf grew stronger. "Larissa, trust me with my words. You just work as a doctor, and don't tell Rachel I told you all this," Reynold said, studying me closely. My mind was spinning as I tried to devise a plan to keep myself, Reynold, and Rachel safe. "Reynold, what if Rachel's unknown enemies attack me, and you're not around to protect me? I need you to teach me how to fight," I said calmly. I knew I had to use them like they were using me. "That's an excellent point. I'll teach you how to fight, but you must keep this a secret from Rachel," Reynold added with a smirk. I nodded and smiled. "Larissa, did you feel your wolf getting attracted to mine?" he asked, and I stared at him, not knowing what to say. ************** Alpha Ren - POV Owen had information about the whereabouts of Rachel's Legal Business, which she was carrying out alongside her illegal dealings. "That b***h is cold-hearted," I remarked. Owen also had intel that Larissa was seen with Alpha Reynold of the White Mist Pack, the cursed monster who had wreaked havoc on his own Pack and was exiled by the wolf councils. "I've seen him somewhere before," I said as I studied a picture of Alpha Reynold. "This is bad news. Larissa must not be aware of this, as only a select few knew about Reynold's history thanks to Rachel suppressing and erasing his name from the news and keeping mystical creatures in the dark." "Alpha," Owen interjected. "Owen, make sure you never speak about Larissa to anyone. If you do, I will kill you," I warned. Owen flinched but nodded in agreement. "Tell everyone I'm going on a business trip and will return soon." "Are you going to inspect those places alone?" Owen asked. "I have to. I can't trust anyone but you, Owen, so don't mess up," I replied. Owen nodded, aware of my past and how many times I had been betrayed by those I trusted. As I was about to leave the Pack, Abigail appeared with a frown that quickly turned into a smile when she saw me. "What's going on with you, babe?" I asked, attempting to show affection to Abigail, even though the love had vanished since I met my mate. I had to keep up appearances and couldn't risk raising Abigail's suspicions. I kissed her cheeks. Abigail complained about a she-wolf healer who had rejected her offer to come with us instead of being a lackey to the Fae princess. "Who does that b***h think she is to say no to me? I am the princess and soon-to-be Luna," Abigail spewed. I couldn't help but see Abigail in a different light, as an arrogant woman who thought she could do anything just because she was a princess. "Why did you go to the other healer? Our Pack has a talented healer," I asked, trying to keep Abigail from talking too much. "Well… Our healers are great, but I wanted to explore other options. I heard this clinic heals more quickly than any, so I went to confirm," she explained. "Who is this rogue who rejected your offer?" I asked. "Someone called Larissa Gomez… at first, I thought she was from our-" "What's going on? Why do you look so irritated, Mom?" Abigail interrupted as my mother walked in at the wrong time. "His father is hellbent on keeping a Luna selection ceremony, and he doesn't want you to be the Luna of the Blue Mist Pack until you prove your worth in front of the challenges he has set up for the women who are participating," my mother revealed, her fury evident. I cursed myself, realizing I couldn't escape the Pack to search for my mate.
