This week just isn’t my week is it? I ask myself as I begin walking home. So much for trying to avoid everyone for the rest of the year, now they’ll all have a front row seat to everything that I do in life. The guys can’t keep their mouths closed for s**t, and with Vanessa being best buds with Hailey and all her friends, I just know in a week or so everyone will know everything there is to know about o’le Blairy boy. Just as I was about to cross the street from the school to the block I lived on, I hear footsteps running up behind me.
“Hey Blair, wait up!” the now familiar sound of Vanessa’s voice yelled out as she came up beside me on the curb. I turn around to look at her, she’s panting from her short sprint from the school's entrance to where we’re standing now. She leans over, placing her hands on her knees, causing her already low cut shirt to droop open even further. This exposes her pale perky breasts, which are ever so delicately held by a lacey black bra. I quickly avert my eyes so she doesn’t catch me staring.
“Where are you going?” She finally asks, standing upright.
“Home, where are you going?” I ask back, she hadn’t come this way yesterday after school, at least from what I saw.
“Oh I live over on Elm St.” She says pointing slightly left from where my house is located.
“So do I,” I state, confused since I hadn’t seen anyone moving into or out of any of the houses on my street. “North or South?” I ask trying to get a better understanding.
“South, kind of close to the library.”
“Oh, okay that makes sense then, I live on North Elm so we’re separated by that row of houses.” I say, turning back towards the street.
“Cool, so we’re kind of neighbors in real life too then.” She says walking up to the street alongside me.
“What do you mean?” I ask.
“Well we live on the same street, and we sit next to each other in the club, so we’re neighbors in the game and sort of in real life too.” She says. We both cross the street, once on the other side we begin walking alongside the road towards the turn off for our street.
“I mean, I guess. I wouldn’t really count us as neighbors though since we’re separated by those houses, but if you want to say that then sure, we’re neighbors.” I reply. I’m not too sure what it is that she’s looking for from me here, all I know is I need to be careful when I’m around her so she doesn’t get any information she can spread to everyone else. However, she seems pleased that I agreed with her on her statement, as she continued to happily skip along beside me as we walked.
“Are you going to walk home from here on out?” I ask her. Wanting to know if this is going to be a daily occurrence of her following me around, or if today she just felt the need to be up my butt for some reason.
“Oh yeah, it’ll be everyday. My parents don’t get off for a few more hours so I wouldn’t have a ride anyways.” She says. She’s so lucky, I think to myself. She gets to be home alone for all that time, no annoying sisters or drunken fathers in her business. “You know, if you want to come over you can… we can talk about the game and strategize and stuff.” She says suddenly. My eyes widened in shock, I’ve never been over to a girls house, much less one who was going to be there alone.
“Won’t your parents be upset with you for having a guy over when they aren’t there?” I ask, knowing full well my parents would whip mine and my sisters ass if brought home someone of the opposite s*x while they weren’t home.
“Oh no, they trust me and pretty much let me do whatever I wan’t.” She replies, my astonishment grows at the thought. “You don’t have to come if you're not comfortable, or if you’re going to get in trouble.” She says, looking over at me. Her eyes once again piercing into my very thoughts.
“It’s not that I don't want to come, I just have work, and also I’m not sure what my parents would think.” I say, forgetting all about the probability of her spying on me for Hailey for the prospect of possibly spending alone time with a beautiful girl.
“Oh okay… maybe some other time then?” She asks as we come to the corner where our paths home split. Her hands are clasped in front of her and her head is facing the ground. The shy persona I’ve come to know from her appearing again.
“Yeah, maybe. I’ll talk to my parents about it and see what they say.” I respond, eager to get the opportunity. Even if nothing happens, at least I can tell my friends I went over to a girls house alone.
“Okay! Just let me know.” She says, a huge smiling blooming on her face. She then turned around and began skipping off down the street, continuing on towards her house. I quickly hurried home, all our talking had put me really far behind, there’s no way I would be able to finish my homework before I had to head into work now. And, if I fail even one assignment from Mrs. Hamilton I’ll be failing her class, which will make me ineligible to compete in the tournament season.
As soon as I get home I zip inside and head straight for my bedroom, not stopping to grab a snack or anything, and ignoring the confused look on my sister's face as I rush past her. I toss my backpack on the bed and grab my laptop, opening it up and pulling up the tab with our writing assignment on it. After doing a quick read through I begin typing away, rushing to try and get it done in the next 30 minutes. It’ll put me getting to work right at five which I know will piss off my boss, but he’ll have to get over it, school comes first.
A few minutes into my writing, Alexa comes barging into my room, sitting down at the edge of my bed. “Why’d you get home so late?” She asks me, I look up to see her eating a popsicle and staring at me with one of her eyebrows raised.
“Just got caught up with something.” I say, continuing my typing. Why can’t she just leave me alone? I'm already in a time crunch so I really don’t have the patience to deal with her nosey questions.
“What? You don’t do anything besides work school and your stupid club, none of which would cause you to show up at home after me.” She said, obviously not planning on letting up anytime soon.
“None of your business, that’s what. Now will you get out of here, I have to finish this assignment before work.” I say, pushing her off my bed with my foot, typing all the while. She rolled her eyes and walked towards my bedroom door.
“Fine, don’t tell me. I’ll just have to find out on my own then.” She says, before floating out the door. I sigh, but ignore her. I’m sure if I’m right about Vanessa then she’ll know all about it soon enough anyways. I just need to get through with this dumb assignment, I think checking my phone for the time. And I have 20 minutes left to do it.
