Several weeks after, at Liberty Hall in Taita Hills.
A section of members have gathered, Brian is going to present his bill on natural eugenics. Present were Mshapa, Lucia, Purity, Tole, Mwakio, and Lembo. Brian is a doctor and always loves finding solutions to anything bothering humans.
Members always operate from the offices in the city and sometimes here at the village, it offers fresh air and gives them time to stay away from the pressure of the city.
“Thank you, members, for granting me this opportunity to present to you a bill on natural eugenics. Eugenics is how to arrange reproduction within a human population to increase the occurrence of heritable characteristics regarded as desirable. These arrangements give the possibility of improving the qualities of the human species.
This arrangement would work by encouraging reproduction by persons presumed well-born. This procedure we have been using for long on our animals without us learning from what we do every day. Today when your cow is on heat, you will find the best bull in the neighborhood, so as the cow could produce a better or wanted breed.
This is the same principle we should use on humans so that we can have better versions of ourselves. We need a generation with strong immunity, strong genes that can fight diseases, and survive in a hostile environment.
During the slave trade, for example, the masters used to choose men who are healthier, strong, with big c***s, well-patterned teeth, and strong shoulders. For women, they chose those with good looks, good breasts, soft thighs, well-shaped legs, well-patterned teeth, a well-shaped waist, and those with good health. This allowed them to have men slaves that were strong and women slaves that were extremely beautiful.
I believe, if today we embrace eugenics in ten years’ time we would start seeing the fruits of our works. We would have a young generation with desired traits, I propose we create awareness among mankind about selective breeding. Thank you.”
Mshapa exhaled, “Thank you for your insights, members can we discuss and see whether this would be viable for our project. Lucia please, you have something.”
“Yes, what will happen to persons having genetic defects or presumed to have inheritable undesirable traits? Does it mean these people won’t be allowed to produce or be married like other people?”
“Natural eugenics will not be a mandatory process. It would be a voluntary program where we advise mankind when they are contemplating reproduction they should select their mate wisely. Naturally, the environment will allow everyone to get a met of their wish and everyone would produce as normal.”
“What about this recent advancement in genetics and reproductive technology of eugenics, termed as human genetic engineering that focuses on repairing faulty genes associated with a disease or other health conditions.” Purity asked.
“What I present here is natural eugenics, where we handle everything naturally, we use selective breeding and the environment at our advantage. We should never advise people to embrace human genetic engineering, it is unethical and inhumane. When someone is born with deficits we handle them with love and care.
We do not have to manipulate an individual’s genetic makeup, or genotype, with the intention of altering his or her observable traits, or phenotype either by the correction of genetic disorders and deficiencies or enhancement of an individual’s genetic make-up.”
Lembo cleared his throat “ I thought inversive gene therapy would be the best because it solves the problem directly.”
“We should not allow inversive gene therapy and instead we should embrace natural gene therapy which harnesses the powerful technology of recombinant DNA to correct disease genes in human cells. Yes, Mwakio you have something to say.”
“Out of all things in the world, what pushed you to think about this?” Mwakio asked.
“Okay as a doctor I have come to realize our young generation lacks something. These young people are very difficult to deal with, they are always rude and ignorant despite them going to school every day. People blame parenting but that is a lie, most parents play their roles well. Then why is this young generation spoilt? I ask myself. They have everything at their disposal but they do nothing, it’s like their minds are shut down.
This applies to all young people all over the world. Another thing when you look and their physical health they are weak and most of them have tiny bodies. This is because mankind has forgotten selective breeding, people get married in terms of tribal lines, political affiliations, life class, either rich or not, such are the things which pushed me to bring these bills here today.”
“Thank you, I believe embracing natural eugenics would be able to improve the genetic composition of the human race. Historically, eugenicists advocated selective breeding to achieve these goals. This is where we say old is gold, let us embrace this selective breeding to our advantage. People should not produce with someone just because they have resources or something, let us aim at having a generation of quality.”
They all nodded in agreement, mankind has forgotten its old and wise ways. Mankind just breeds anyhow without putting into consideration vital issues to consider before reproducing with someone.
Tole engaged the team by saying, “Eugenics simply means well-born. I believe our human race on this planet could help direct its future by selectively breeding individuals who have desired traits, by doing so we would have a generation with good genetic makeup.”
Brian, “Sure, selective breeding would be very vital in preventing the transmission of undesirable traits from generation to generation. We need to track family trees and histories to identify the desirable traits.”
“How do we remove the unfit traits from our generation?” Mshapa asked.
“That would be very simple, we sterilize by pairing those with unfit traits to those with very good traits; this always neutralizes the negative traits. That is why I noted before that we should make the program voluntary, all we need to do is ensure that people get awareness about how it works.”
Lucia, “Don’t you think the use of eugenic principles could be used to justify atrocities and stigmatization to a certain group of people?”
“Not really, because it would be a voluntary thing, all we need to do is ensure every mankind knows about eugenics and its importance. With time they will embrace it and none will bother the other.”
“The eugenics of human evolution embodies a lot like tree eugenics draws its materials from many sources and organizes them into a harmonious entity. They include genetics, anatomy, physiology, biology, psychology, mental testing, anthropology, history, geology, anthropometry, archeology, ethnology, geography, law, politics, statistics, economics, biography, genealogy, education, sociology, religion, psychiatry, and medicine. Imagine when eugenics is implemented successfully we achieve all these, we would have humans with better versions of these.” Tole narrated.
“This was really informative and let us design an actual blueprint for the same and we shall ensure it is implemented. I am impressed by the bill because it would really help us with many things. When we choose our soldiers we always select the strongest, what if a time comes where we will not be able to find these strong men and women.
It is within our responsibility to prevent such from happening. When choosing mates it should not be how cute they are but rather how fertile they are will they make good offsprings? We need to drive this ideology to all mankind as soon as possible.” Mshapa concluded the meeting and they went to their homes.
At home, Mshapa and Flora sat quietly. Things have not been as good as it should have been. Mshapa has always been consumed with serving the nation, and what pulled him away from the wife is his ambitions to save the world. His ambitions have made his marriage become cold, the fire they had before has ceased.
“Hello, you look withdrawn these days, what is happening my wife?”
Flora turns around and looks at her husband with sad eyes, her eyes showing pain and a need of something.
“I am tired of everything here, I feel like a statue in this marriage, when you picked me as your wife at the park that day, I thought I was the luckiest woman on the planet but that is not true now.”
“Hey, hey do not say that my darling you have everything here, remember you are the first lady of this nation.” Mshapa tries to hold her waist but Flora pulls herself away from him.
The statehouse bedroom was cold, this was a bad sign and the problem had to be fixed immediately. When a woman is not happy in a marriage where the husband is well accomplished or holding such an office, then it becomes a huge problem. Mshapa knew he had to clear out things before they went to the public.
“I want my husband back,” she said this as she broke down in tears.
Mshapa picked her up and cuddled her smoothly and he tried to calm her down. “My wife what do you mean you want your husband back yet am right here?”
“No, you do not understand I want you to be with me, of late you do not have time for me. You are always busy with projects and you forget you have a wife to make pregnant. I have been with you for long now and I need your child. You make people talk bad about me that I am not fit to be a president's wife.”
“Oh no, darling we have tried this for long. It is not that I want us to be like this, I have always tried to make babies with you, but we have not been successful. The last time we agreed to wait until the Gods bless us with a child. Who has fed you with this poison, my wife.”
“No one has fed me with poison, look at Tole and Sofi for example, they got married just the other day and already they have twins. For use on the other hand we have been together for so long and yet nothing, people have started talking. I am not comfortable walking to rallies and people give me weird looks. ”
“My wife never minds, we are going to solve this problem as soon as possible.”
“I also want you around me, I understand you have your responsibilities as a leader but I am also your wife, I need you too.”
“I will correct my faults dear, do not worry.”
Mshapa knew what was at stake and this hit him very hard. He had to do something to cleanse this problem. They were not happy and the reason was not that Mshapa was busy with work but rather lack of children in their marriage was the problem.
A dark cloud had downed Mshapas’ home.
