Thirty fiveThey camped amongst a cluster of high, jagged rocks sprouting like giant's teeth from the surrounding snow-covered plains. Here, with the air a degree or so warmer, the ground was clear and Simms managed to make a fire, using his flint and steel to set alight a collection of coarse, dry grass and twigs. As it burnt he stacked on larger pieces of timber until the flames roared and they both huddled closer to bask in the glow. “You're good,” said Tabatha, drawing close to him. He draped his arm around her and held her close. “I'm sorry,” he mumbled. “You must stop thinking about it,” she said and pressed her mouth into his neck and kissed him. “It'll be just fine, you see.” He craned his neck, “What do you mean?” “I mean, in time, we'll be able to be intimate without guilt.”
