Escape“I'm sorry I got you into this, Thea,” Seiken stated, backing down the small tunnel after trying to gauge the severity of their situation. The Epiales still lay in wait. Although he had not expected anything less, he had hoped their numbers would have thinned a little. It would be almost impossible for them to escape. The formless masses knew they were trapped, and they would not so easily give up on a prey they now knew to be endangered. The only chance they had of escape was for him to be a decoy so Zo could run, even then there was no guarantee.
“I've been meaning to ask, why do you call me that?” She noticed that once again Seiken stood about as far away from her as he could get. Something about the way he had been looking at her lately made her breath quick
