“You wanna go for a walk?” I ask him and he nods
“Yeah, some fresh air would be good” he kisses her head and we head out the door. Walking in silence through the hospital grounds he stops looking up at the stars
“You think she knows?” he asks and I look up too
“I think so, she’s a mother” I say and he looks at me
“I’m scared, but confident at the same time. Weird huh?” he says and I chuckle
“Yup, but that’s what parents do. We want them to be independent, while worrying our asses off. The bigger they get, the more ideas they have, the bigger the risk and greater the damage” I say and he laughs
