Chapter 10 Deepan was still struggling to come to terms with what he had just seen and heard over the last three hours. Pulling off that balaclava to see Paige unconscious on Karl’s dining room floor had felt like a bad dream. Surely Paige couldn’t have done all this? Had someone put her up to it? In a way, someone had put her up to it. Him. Because Paige wanted Deepan for herself. Sitting in on Paige’s interview had been a mistake. Deepan had wanted to know why, and now he wished he didn’t. He would prefer to live in ignorance. The way Paige had talked about the murders as if she was discussing a shopping trip, and with the enthusiasm she gave their many evening debates had chilled him to the bone.
