Leona's POV
"Come on, Leona! I already asked your daughter! Surely, it's fine to borrow your mom, right, Juliana?" Jewel asked my daughter.
Juliana grinned at her auntie's question. I couldn't stop shaking my head as Juliana immediately looked at me.
"Of course, Tita Ninang! I want Mommy to have a boyfriend, you know! She's so pretty! A lot of guys would like her!" Juliana said happily. My brothers looked in my direction, immediately frowning at what Juliana had said. My daughter doesn’t know her father at all—neither do I—but despite that, both of us never felt like we were lacking anything. I met her father when I was rebelling against my family and attended a masquerade party thrown by our enemy, the Tenor. It was just a one-night stand, but that one night blessed me with this cute little girl.
"Baby, your mommy doesn't need a boyfriend," Kuya Damon said.
"Yes, she doesn't. Mommy can stand on her own, but if she wants to have one, she can, Uncle," my daughter said. My brothers didn’t argue. They just looked at us before Kuya Damon rolled his eyes at me. I grinned at him. They can't start a fight with their niece.
"Let’s go now, Titos! I want to play with Grandpa’s gift! Tita Ninang, Mommy, enjoy your after-party!" My daughter kissed my cheeks. It’s been weeks since we got back to the Philippines, and we’ve always had dinner with the family. Today, it’s with Jewel’s family.
Jewel's family already knows about Juliana. Jewel always asks me to go out because our friends keep inviting us. It's been so long since they last saw me.
I always refused because I wanted to stay with Juliana. It's her first time in the Philippines, and I want to be with her. But my daughter is really enjoying the company of my brothers and father. Who would have thought she'd get them to play Barbies with her? They really like pleasing her.
"Are you sure you’ll be fine here, baby?" I asked my daughter softly.
She gave me a wide smile before nodding at me.
"Yes, Mom! You can enjoy without me!" she said. I smiled and kissed her on the cheek.
"I love you... I'll kiss you goodnight now... Sleep well, baby," I said softly.
"I love you, Mommy! Good night! Don’t worry about me. I'm a big girl now!"
"A big girl who throws tantrums when her hair gets messy, huh?" Kuya Leo smirked. She just pouted but didn’t deny it. I laughed softly and instructed Mina, Juliana’s babysitter, not to let her get too hyper before bed. My brothers, especially my father, like to spoil her. They always give her chocolates and say they can’t resist her cuteness.
"Go home immediately, Leona. The guards will go with you," Kuya Uno said. I couldn’t help but roll my eyes.
"Stop treating me like I’m still a kid, Kuya. My guard will do," I said. I know they just care about my safety, but they’re overreacting sometimes.
"It’s okay, Kuya Uno. I have a lot of guards with me as well,” Jewel added.
"That’s even worse. You traitor. Planning to marry a Tenor," Kuya Damon said. Jewel and I couldn't stop laughing before shaking our heads. Jewel pouted. My brothers kept teasing her about it, but she was actually struggling. Her family is loyal to ours. They almost cut her off because of that. Her mom is my mom’s best friend—and she’s still grieving my mother’s death.
My family was mad at first, but I told them that if they cut ties with Jewel's family, I would cut off my relationship with them, too. Jewel and I have been best friends since we were babies. She’s already endured a lot from her family.
Jewel already fought with her family over it.
"Stop it, Brother. We’ll go now. Stop being annoying and let my guards handle the rest," I said. They can’t do anything. Sometimes they forget I’m an adult now. They treat me like I’m still a teenager.
We headed out and went to the Kiss Bar. When we got there, the dance floor was already wild.
"Leona!" Jet shouted. Some acquaintances I knew. I greeted their group.
"It’s been a while since I last saw you! You look so pretty with your runway walk!” Jet said before hugging me. I couldn’t stop smiling. These people are rich, so most of them also attend runways abroad. I often meet them there. That’s probably why they always thought Juliana was my brother’s daughter—because I was still modeling actively abroad. These casual friends don’t have the guts to ask personal questions.
I was greeting some of them when my eyes lingered on one of the VIP tables. I couldn’t help but feel annoyed when I saw some of the young Tenor members. Looks like my night is already ruined.
"You didn’t tell me your fiancé’s cousins would be here?" I whispered to Jewel.
"That i***t Kelvin didn’t tell me either. He said they’d be partying, but not here. I’m sorry! Should we find another bar?" Jewel asked.
"Why would we? As if we’re scared of them," I said, even more annoyed when the Tenor looked our way.
"Look at your future husband glaring at me like I’ll manipulate you into not marrying him," I whispered to Jewel and laughed softly. When he looked at his fiancée, his eyes immediately softened. What a sight. I rolled my eyes. What an annoying view.
I just looked around and waved at people I knew, but my eyes narrowed when I saw a familiar face. I saw him—Percival. The guy I love hooking up with abroad. I approached him when I saw him at an event during one of my runways. He’s exactly my type. Really hot, especially in bed.
I was about to wave at him, but I saw women approach him, so I pouted and shrugged. Right. We don’t greet each other in public.
