. Chapter 15 – Sudden Liberation

Stephanie screamed loudly, tears streaming down her face, restrained tightly in the Alpha’s wing. Her cries filled the space, piercing the heavy silence. Every attempt she made to convince the guards to help her had failed; no one looked at her, no one showed any sympathy. She screamed again, her voice trembling: "Please… please… I want to see my family… someone… please, release my bonds!" She closed her eyes for a few seconds, then felt something strange wrap around her, as if the air itself had shifted. When she opened her eyes, she found herself lying on the floor, the massive chains that had bound her wrists violently shattered. The pain still pulsed through her hands, every muscle stretched tight for hours, her skin scratched, some blood dripping onto the floor. She tried to get up, every movement excruciating, but something else caught her attention. All she saw was a fleeting shadow passing before her eyes, a massive, frightening shape… she noticed nothing but its glowing green eyes, the same color as her own. The moment was brief, then it vanished. A shiver ran through her body, and she could barely process what she had seen. Outside, the guards heard the sound of the chains breaking. Shocked, they rushed to the wing, but when they entered, they found only Stephanie… different from before, lying on the ground, the chains violently torn apart. She could barely move her arms, pain still radiating, blood dripping from her wrists. She raised her voice with difficulty: "Help me up, please…" The guards cautiously approached, helping her stand until she reached the bed. A maid stepped forward to assist her. Stephanie gestured to the guards: "Go… I want it to be just me and the maid." At first, the guards seemed tense, but they obeyed without argument. They understood that Stephanie was an important lady within the Alpha’s wing, and orders had to be followed regardless of circumstances. The guards left, leaving her alone with the maid. Stephanie sat on the bed, trying to calm herself, but she was angry and unsettled. She turned to the maid, deciding to ask some questions to ease her tension and regain some control: "Who are you? What’s your name? How old are you? How long have you been working in this palace? Do you know anything about the Alpha or why I was brought here? Have you ever seen anything like the wolf that…?" The maid remained silent, not answering a single question, her eyes fixed on the floor. Angrily, Stephanie stood slightly on the bed, shouting: "Hey! Why don’t you answer any of my questions?" The maid sighed slowly, lifting her head slightly, and whispered: "I didn’t mean to bother you, my lady… I didn’t mean that. But… we… we are not allowed to speak to anyone from the royal family or high-ranking officials, or even the favorites or those close to them… and even direct eye contact… is punished for all of us…" Stephanie’s anger flared anew, tears forming again: "But I’m not from that family! I’m not close to them! A savage person kidnapped me and held me inside your wing. Even the message they sent me, no one allowed me to see it!" The maid looked down, speaking softly: "I’m sorry, my lady… but since you came to the Alpha’s wing… these are the orders… we cannot speak or reveal anything." Stephanie felt both anger and despair at once. She tried to press further: "Please… just tell me something… anything! How do I deal with this? Will I see my family again?" The maid remained silent, completely still, as if living on the edge of fear of any word slipping from her mouth. Meanwhile, Erling was in the royal meeting hall with Beta Rin, busy with work when a guard rushed in. The doors were open, and the guard entered swiftly, bowing respectfully to Erling. Erling’s voice was sharp: "Speak, guard! What do you want to tell me?" The guard replied: "The head of your wing’s guards sent me, sir, to inform you… just now we heard the sound of something metallic breaking. When we entered, we saw the iron chains cut, and the lady in the wing lying on the floor, unable to rise, her hands bleeding from the tight restraints… The maids assisted her." Erling couldn’t believe it. His mind reeled with shock and anger: "Who dares to breach our palace? How could this happen? The palace is heavily guarded, not a single meter is left unmonitored!" He turned to Rin and ordered: "Take my place here until I return immediately." Rin bowed: "At your command, sir." Erling rushed to the Alpha’s wing, his heart pounding with fury and tension, trying to understand what had happened and who had dared this audacious act. Back on the bed, Stephanie faced the maid again, trying to seize any opportunity to ask more questions: "Have you worked here for years? Who appointed you? Did you see anything strange before I arrived? Do you know anything about the messages sent here?" The maid remained silent, as always, not moving her head, not uttering a single word. Stephanie felt her anger rise: "Where are the answers? Why don’t you respond to anything? Isn’t it our right to know?" Finally, the maid whispered in fear: "My lady… please… I didn’t mean to ignore or bother you… It’s just… we are bound to silence… we cannot speak to anyone from the family or the close ones… even direct eye contact is forbidden…" Stephanie sighed, her eyes shining with anger and despair, yet she felt a slight relief knowing finally the reason for the silence. Outside, the guards watched carefully, strictly following Erling’s orders—any mistake could cost them dearly. Inside the wing, Stephanie tried to calm herself, tears gradually drying, yet she continued asking questions, trying to understand the place she had found herself in, the people around her, and who was behind all this. Calm slowly returned, yet tension still filled the room, as if every second would reveal more secrets and dangers lurking around her.
