"Ann I need you to confirm what James said earlier about all flights to c-city being cancelled" Tracy said to secretary Ann behind her
"I already checked boss and he was right....all flights to c-city has been cancelled due to bad weather" Ann paused for when they were about to step into the elevator,then she continued when they were inside
"But due to a major press conference being held in c-city today,most of the hotels have been fully booked so we have only one option left"
"Which is....?"
"Jade Hotels and Suites...it was recently opened by....." Before she could finish her statement, The elevator doors had opened and Tracy was walking out of the building towards her car parked outside where the chauffeur had already opened the door for her
Tracy gracefully stepped into the black Mercedes followed by Secretary Ann
"You were saying...." Tracy turned to Ann and said when they were settled in the car
"Um....Jade Hotels and Suites was recently opened by Toppers Enterprise"Ann finished up quickly
" oh...Make sure to book a presidential suite for me "
"I already did that boss but that was the last suite and room available....." Ann paused before saying "so I booked rooms in a separate hotel for myself and the team separate hotel for myself and the team"
"Why didn't you book mine in that same hotel too" Tracy asked
"The presidential suites in that hotel were fully booked boss" Ann answered politely
"OK I understand..... Make sure to book the first flight to c-city tomorrow"
"Yes boss"
Tracy checked the time on her watch and it read 4:45pm. She let out a frustrated grunt before sighing and relaxing back on the headrest of the Mercedes. The watch was a present from grandpa 4 months ago. Tracy closed her eyes for a bit hoping to get some sleep before they arrived at the hotel ,but she just couldn't, she kept thinking about grandpa.....she hadn't seen the old man for some months now since she had been busy working on the contract
"Put grandpa on the phone for me" she turned her head and said to Ann "its been a while"
"OK boss....its connecting" Ann replied
"Hello.." An all too familiar deep bass voice but a little shaky due to old age resounded in the car
"Hello grandpa....its me Tracy"
"Tracy?...who's that... I don't know anyone called Tracy" The old man's voice sounded from the other end of the phone
Tracy smiled to herself knowing that the old man was up to his old blackmailing tricks
"Come on grandpa ....its me Tracy your granddaughter*
"granddaughter?.... I don't remember having a granddaughter called Tracy " the old man was bent on blackmail
Tracy smiled and responded "oh...sorry. .it must be a wrong number then ....Ann please hang up" she said the last part loud enough for the person on the other end of the phone to hear
"Wait... Wait... Wait" grandpa grudgingly said
Her smile deepened further as she said "wait?..I thought you said you didn't know me" her voice sounded so innocent over the phone that it made grandpa laugh and say
"You little imp.... You can't even let an old man enjoy his old tricks anymore... You're becoming smarter everyday and that's why you feel you no longer need your old grandpa"
"Grandpa....."
"Don't grandpa me.... I understand you have become an independent woman now but it isn't nice of you to stay away from home for so long.... I know you're busy but you still have to make out time for family. Remember family comes first"
"And you're the only family I've got..." Tracy said softly
"Tracy..." The old man called her name endearingly "The smith family is a very large one... Your cousins seem to get along well...."
"Grandpa you are well aware of the condition of the relationship between me and the rest of the family" From the time she entered the Smith family they always called her dirty names behind her back and Tracy being who she was didn't bother about them,grandma and grandpa's love and approval was all she needed
"But I will try my best to reach out to them since it bothers you so much"
"Good girl....your grandma would have been so proud of you" grandpa said softly
"I miss her a lot" Tracys voice was a little shaky
"We all miss her" Grandpa's voice sounded very solemn and Tracy didn't like it so she attempted to change the mood
"So grandpa.... Guess what" she said cheerfully
"You're bringing home a grandson in law "? The old man asked sarcastically
" Being so sarcastic isn't good for your age and health grandpa"
Her statement made grandpa laugh "So tell me " He said
"I'm currently in H-city but I'll be returning tomorrow"
"When are you coming home"? Grandpa asked
" still tomorrow grandpa...I've been working my brains out and I finally landed the contract I was working on so I decided to take a day off tomorrow and spend the whole day with my one and only special grandpa"she answered happily
"Hmmm...very nice and don't forget to bring a grandson in-law this time Tracy... Goodbye".
" wait grandpa..." Before she could finish the call got disconnected. She smiled while stuffing the phone in her pockets
"Cancel all my appointment tomorrow" she said to Ann
"Okay boss"
