Emi's POV
He is standing so close to me, and it feels as if I'm seeing a ghost. I am taking some steps backward, trying to stay away from him, but I reach the farthest distance I can go as a wall is behind me.
“Logan... Logan?” My breathing is heavy, as if something is blocking air from flowing into my nostrils. “Is... Is this you?”
He chuckles. “Of course it's me. You can touch me to confirm.”
I touch his chest, and I feel its roughness. It's him, the hair on his chest makes me believe he's not an impostor.
“You see? It can only be me. I have no replica.”
I swallow hard. “Why are you here?”
He rubs his right hand on my jaw, giving me a light pinch. “You know I'm here because of you.”
I do not take his hand off my face.
“After rejecting me in front of the members of your pack?” My eyes narrow at him.
Now, he takes a solemn expression. “I thought my mum explained everything to you.”
I shake my head.
“Most of what I did was all an act. It's because Claudia is pregnant for me, and I had to show an example by rejecting you so everyone knows.”
My eyelids are shaking as I try to prevent them from becoming wet. It's not good if I cry for him to see me.
“Now,” he goes on. “I want to have you back. Claudia doesn't mind. You both can be together. There's no issue with that.”
I clench my fists. My hand wants to slap him, but I fight the urge.
“I already have a mate,” I just say. “And we are marking tomorrow. You have to leave.”
His face hardens, pressing his teeth tightly together as if he's chewing a stone that is refusing to break into pieces.
“My companions heard your conversation. I want you to stop him...” His hand goes to my fingers. “Reject him so we can be together.”
“That's impossible!" I finally got the strength to push his hand off me. “Just leave! I don't want anyone to see you. Leave!"
I'm screaming at him, and my fists are hitting his chest. The tears I've been trying to avoid start to flow out in audible cry.
“Leave me alone!"
I hear footsteps approaching us, and we turn to the direction of the sound. I quickly clean the tears on my face.
“Emi!" I hear Octavier's voice.
He presses a tied paper into my hand and runs in the other direction.
“Emi.” Octavier comes closer for me to see her. “You've spent an insane time in this spot. What's up with you?”
She touches my weak hands, trying to feel the life in it.
“You look weak... Have you been crying?”
“Yea... No. I have been trying to clean myself up.”
“By resting your back against the wall? Come, let's go. Gerald asked me to call you. He wants you to sleep by his side. You have to consider what I've told you.”
I just nod.
I'm back at Gerald's side, and the paper Logan gave me is still in my hand. I open it, and it reads: Don't deceive yourself that you've lost that connection for me because my rejection of you was just a facade. Empty words. Meet me at your packs square. I'll be waiting.
“Emi.” Gerald calls, touching my thighs.
I quickly squeeze the paper I'm holding, and throw it beneath the chair I'm sitting on.
“You will stay in my room, and of course, nothing should happen between us.” He grins, and comes close to my ears. “I was aroused to the point of losing control of myself.”
In the room Roshan had made the workers in our palace prepare for him, I'm sleeping by his side, but my mind is running a race, such that I can't sleep.
The morning comes, and just as Gerald has told Roshan, we are preparing for the marking ceremony.
“Are you sure you want to go on with this?” Roshan asks me.
“Yes.”
He gives up on further questioning me. Andrea looks from some steps away, and just shakes her head.
That's the step I have to take.
“You should dress your best. It's a special day for us.”
“Yes... I will have to go to my room.”
On leaving, I see Logan's letter that I had squeezed and thrown, on the doorpost. I can't tell how it got inside, but I pick it up, tear it before discarding it.
But the letter has its effect, because I'm thinking of going to meet Logan at the pack's square.
Just a few members of our pack are gathered in the same field we used for yesterday's party. Roshan is standing at one side, his usual spot, and right there, Gerald's fangs grew longer, biting deep into me.
“Congratulations! Congratulations!" I hear members of our pack say.
Roshan does not clap at first, but starts joining his palms together when Gerald looks at him.
“The marking process is done!" He announces.
I feel tied up to Gerald. It's more intense than yesterday, and my wolf is trying to show herself.
Gerald grabs my waist, kissing me. I flow with him. His scent is strong to my nose, completely intoxicating me.
The field dismisses, and everyone, including Roshan, Andrea, and Octavier starts leaving, and that's without embracing me, and giving me their best wishes.
“Dear mate.” Gerald touches my forehead, down to the start of my breasts. “No one should come between us, not even your former mate, Logan.”
The mention of Logan's name makes me remember I plan to meet him at the pack's square.
“Logan should not come between us,” he says again.
I'm nodding my head in hunger. What I want at this moment is to feed my wolf's instinct of his length in me.
He carries me into the same room we have slept in. He keeps looking at me while I pull off his shirt. I can't tell what is in his mind, but his look is intense. If the instinct to bond closer to him isn't in me, it might have caused fear, but I see him as a part of me.
“Don't doubt the bond we have because of anyone,” he says.
He starts taking off my gown, unhooks my bra, and takes off my pants.
“Please... Go on....”
He goes in stokes, and the pleasure comes in a thousand fold. We go on and on, taking rest and having breakfast, lunch, and supper in between.
Now, it's dark, and he is sleeping soundly, out of satisfaction. Logan must be waiting for me, I think.
I leave the bed. His loud snoring confirms that just a small sound cannot wake him up. The door has been left open, and it just makes my going out so easy.
I'm walking alone at this late hour, hiding myself among the trees at each footstep I hear.
Logan walks out from the thick bush. “Come with me.”
I have planned to cut ties with him, to make him understand that the intention he's trying to pass to me is hitting a brick wall.
“Come,” he says again. “We might have a long discussion.”
I did not plan to have a long talk with him, but I find myself following him. I hear the leaves make loud noises, but I can't find anyone behind me.
“Let's go inside.” He notices I'm hesitating to go inside the thatched tent he had made.
The members of his pack, the ones that had caught my attention in Roshan's party, also have tents. Some of them are outside.
“We have been mates.” He holds my hand. “I know you trust me.”
I go inside with him. I'm perceiving a sweet scent. It kind of makes me feel weak.
I sit on the bed with him. “Say all you have to say, I have a new mate, and I don't want him to notice my absence.”
“It's okay.” He starts by touching my shoulder. “I told you that my rejection of you was just a facade.”
“No, it wasn't.” I’m shaking my head.
“I had to do that because of some reasons.” His hand has started touching my thighs.
I feel stiff, but I don't take his hand off me.
“You can let go of Gerald to be with me.”
“No... I can't do that. We are now mates….”
My eyelids are starting to become heavy, and I can't make a vivid picture of him as everything is becoming blurry. His words are also becoming faint to my ears.
“Lo… Logan….”
His hand is walking up my thighs, but I'm too weak to push him off me.
The door bangs open, waking me up.
“Emi!”
Gerald?
I quickly sit up, looking at him.
He is standing at the doorpost, his hand touching the frame.
“I told you not to let Logan come between us,” he says.
