I noticed something had changed in Chase lately. He didn’t walk to school anymore. Today, he took the car and I rode with him. I wanted to ask him about it, maybe joke about it, but I let it slide for now.
We walked side by side from the parking lot into the school building. My head was swimming with thoughts—was I wrong to show myself to Mathew two days ago? But technically I didn’t particularly show myself, my demon side did. And where the hell did my step mother and sister go for days? After their argument they had just let it go like nothing happened.
Something is definitely fishy.
