Monday Monday

521 Words
It's Monday, which for most people means the beginning of the work week but because I'm a server, it's the beginning of my weekend. I like to get my grocery shopping and other errands done on Mondays. I've always enjoyed being a server. The flexible schedule and ability to get a job anywhere has always appealed to my nomadic nature. I haven't moved as much as I'd like but enough to know flexibility in a job is key. I went to the bank first to make my weekly deposit and then to the grocery store. I had almost finally forgotten about Jackson and his drunken rambling when I smelled the most delectable smell. It smelled like fresh baked bread. I would have assumed it was just the bakery section but I was definitely in the cereal aisle. As I was pondering the source of this amazing smell, a tall gentleman walked around the corner. His eyes were pitch black and his nostrils flared. He looked directly at me and in four long strides, was standing only a breath away from me. I stood there, frozen like a deer in headlights. I wasn't afraid, rather calmed by his presence and that just confused me more. "Hello there little one." Oh s**t. His voice was like honey. His aura washed over me and it felt like drinking sweet iced tea on a summer day. "h..hi. ahem…Hi." "May I ask your name beautiful?" "Ahem, Callie. It's Callie." Why did this man so instantly have a hold on me? Its as if all my limbs were locked in place. I couldn't run away if i wanted to. That's the other problem. Why didn't I want to? This is a complete, albeit handsome, stranger. Where is my fight or flight!? "Mmmm…Callie." I heard a rumble in his chest as he said my name, almost like a purr. "It is very good to meet you Callie. I'm Maddox. This is obviously abrupt and completely sudden but would you like to go to lunch with me? My treat." Before i could think I heard the words leaving my mouth "Yes." Shit, I said that way too quickly and why was I so breathy. He could be a serial killer. What am I thinking? That's probably the problem. I'm not thinking at all. "Good. I know just the place." His eyes, now a chestnut brown, lit up and he grabbed my hand and started to lead me towards to doors. I would have protested, after all i hadnt even gotten half of my shopping done but the way his hand felt in mind made me lose any thought of defying this man. His hand was large and warm and if it didn't make me sound crazy, I'd say I even felt tingles running up my arm from the contact. He led me away from my half full shopping cart, out the doors, and to a blacked out TRD Tacoma. All my survival instincts had obviously gone down the drain because as he opened the door for me I didn't even hesitate to get in. What is wrong with me?
