Soul Mates...

“I’m not angry if that’s what you think.” He stated reaching for my hand. I tried to step back, but there wasn’t really anywhere to go. His bandaged face terrified me, what had I done to him? “It’s alright, I scared you. I get it, this is a lot to take in. No matter what we are mates. The moon goddess Luna wouldn’t have crossed you for me unless she knew you were the perfect woman for me.” He was smiling, but he also looked sad or maybe he was just tired. “I don’t understand.” I wanted to say more but my throat just seemed to close. My mouth was dry. “I can assume you didn’t grow up with a pack presence.” I know you lived at the girls home here in town since you were about thirteen. I got that from your friend.” He was squeezing my hand. “How bad is it?” I asked staring at his bandages. “Oh this.” He began to remove the bandages. “No wait!” What if it was horribly mangled? “It’s almost healed.” He said pulling off the last bit. There was a swollen red scar from his eye to his jaw, but it was healed over like it was very old. It looked like it had happened years ago. “My doc says it’ll barely show by the end of the week. I’ll probably always have a slight scar, it was clear to the bones, but that werewolf blood we got can do wonders!”  He sounded so enthusiastic, it made me feel even worse! I attacked him, I clawed his beautiful face and he was trying to cheer me up? “I’m sorry.” I squeaked, my voice just wasn’t cooperating. “It was my fault, I knew the moment I met you that you weren’t from a pack. I could just tell you weren’t a real rogue, but you didn’t come from a pack either. I shouldn’t have sprung the soul mate thing on you.”  “But I attacked you!” I could feel my eyes stinging, they were on the verge of spilling over. He hugged me, I buried my face into his hoodie. He squeezed and I suddenly felt better. I can’t explain it, so much fear, anger, and anxiety lifted. Everything I’d been carrying around for so long. “It’s nothing my love. Nothing could ever come between us. Certainly not a little scratch like this.” He joked. I looked up at his scar, I placed my hand over it. I wished I could will it healed. “I wish..” “No. No. Don’t dwell on it, we will just move on. Maybe you could use a little bit of training, have you mastered the transition?” “What do you mean?” I asked confused, I couldn’t really control it. “What do you think about to shift, you know to wolf out.” “I can’t really control it, it just happens about once a year when I’m stressed out. Sapphira takes control.” I said looking down, I wasn’t sure what was normal, but I knew I probably wasn’t. “Who trained you, surely there was another wolf  you knew at some point.” “No. You guys are the first wolves I ever spoken too.”  “How! How is that possible?” “We didn’t get to go out much at the group home. And when I did notice a scent, the other person would usually give me a death stare. I’ve always stayed away from others.” I explained. “Where is you family?” He was still hugging me. I didn’t want him to let go. Ever. “I don’t know, I guess they’re all dead. That’s what everyone’s always told me.” “How did you end up at at the girls home.” I closed my eyes an remembered the first time I turned. It was the night after my thirteenth birthday, I was helping another girl in the foster home clean up some plates from dinner one minute, then smashing myself around the room the next. I felt a searing pain in every limb, my heart began to ran. The other girl looked at me terrified and screamed. Then I ran, I ran out the back door and towards the creek. We were in the city but there was a big park with a creek that ran through it. Just as I’d reached the edge up the park I started turning. It felt like every bone in my body was breaking. I screamed for help at first. I didn’t know what was happening. The next thing I knew Sapphire was speaking to me trying to calm me. I continued to the water where I blacked out and Sapphire took over. When I woke up the next day I was laying at the top of the parks pergola completely naked. The fire department had to get me down, the family didn’t want me to come back. I was trouble, I was a runaway, I didn’t get along with others, so they were sending me away. And then I came here, I learned to hide what I was. Dylan listened to me tell him about my life, I don’t know how long we sat on his bed with our arms around each other. I told him about the dreams, how I hid my wolf, and last about the witch I’d met. He was angry. Angry that nobody claimed me as a newborn, there had to be people from one of my parents packs that knew I existed! He said he’d used my mother’s name from my birth certificate to locate her pack. He swore he would get answers, but I was just glad he’d found me. “No matter what, now you have a pack.” He said reassuring me. “Thanks.” I said placing my head on his shoulder. He was perfect.  But now I wondered if the dreams were real at all. I wondered if my father had died the way I’d seen it? The seer said I had his wolfs spirit, so he must have died before I was born. My mother died right after I was born, I knew that was true. Right? But I could have more family, what if I had an older sibling! “Now let’s go introduce you to the pack. I know your nervous, but you will see. Once you meet them and you become one of us, you will never be alone again...”
